GENERAL

As A. Merritt was ill and G. Colless was dually engaged in Race 8, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: RAY WHITE IPSWICH MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M

BAY DUKE – Bumped on jumping away. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance of the horse, rider J. Orman reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn, however failed to run on as expected when placed under pressure and in his opinion may be better suited at a longer distance than that of today's event. Apprentice Orman's explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

DR QUINCY – Raced wide and hung off the track rounding the home turn. Trainer P. Sexton was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery.

JADED – Slow to begin.

MISS HEIDELICIOUS – Bumped on jumping away.

RIPPER NIPPER – Hung in after entering the home straight, becoming awkward on the heels of other runners until a point approaching the 100m.

SAPPHIRE QUEST – Raced wide throughout.

RACE 2: THE QUEENSLAND TIMES QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

EXCELLENT SPIRIT – Bumped on jumping away.

SOCIAL CAPITAL – Fractious in the barriers. When questioned regarding the horse's performance, rider J. Byrne stated that after being fractious in the barriers and tightened for room at the start he was obliged to race back in the field, however in his opinion the colt will be better suited to longer distances than that of today's event. His explanation was noted.

BIRTHDAY WISHES – Rider lost his offside rein for a short distance near the 200m.

DUTCH TREAT – Lost its off hind plate in running.

EVA FEROCIA – Bumped on jumping away.

LIMERICK STAR – Fractious in the barriers.

ZENA THE GODDESS – Began awkwardly. Improved on to heels near the 800m and had to be steadied.


RACE 3: OPTUS C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable R. Wiggins, rider of 3rd placegetter ANNAMAN, to view the stewards' patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the 2nd placegetter SYAMANTAKA MANI. After viewing the videos, R. Wiggins indicated that he did not wish to proceed.

FUSCUS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

GUNDY MAGIC – Hung in over the concluding stages.

I'M ALONE – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit, which is in contrast to the horse's last two starts when it raced back in the field. After being slow to begin, the horse raced in the second half of the field. Had to be steadied to avoid heels a short distance after the start. Bumped near the 400m and had to be momentarily steadied. Inconvenienced leaving the 100m and had to be steadied from heels.

SYAMANTAKA MANI – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout the event. Shifted out near the 400m, making contact with another runner. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m and inconvenienced another runner. R. McMahon was advised to exercise more care.

B. Stewart, the rider of I'M ALONE, was reprimanded for failing to weigh in for 5th place.


RACE 4: SCHWEPPES F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

CRACKINGTHENUT – Bumped on jumping away.

FILLE DU JEU – Raced wide throughout.

QUATTRO PASSI – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Had a tendency to hang out in the middle stages.

RED'S THE GO – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Overraced in the middle stages.

CYNISCA – Threw its head in the air when being restrained at the start. Inconvenienced and had to be steadied when following another runner which commenced to buck soon after the start.

OFCOURSE SHE DOES – Bumped on jumping away.

PRECIOUS EMBERS – Raced wide throughout.

ELSPETH'S STAR – Had to be steadied when tiring and racing in restricted room near the 300m.

SOCIAL DELIGHT – Bucked soon after the start and lost considerable ground, taking no competitive part in the event. Connections were advised that the mare must officially trial to stewards' satisfaction before being permitted to race again.

ZETTFIDAA – Trainer N. Saunders was fined $100 for failing to effect a gear change by the prescribed time.

RACE 5: CITY OF IPSWICH RATINGS BAND 0-75 H’CAP – 1200M

MORE LEVERAGE – Placed in restricted room between runners shortly after the start.

SONS OF GOD – T. Harrison was cautioned regarding her use of the whip and for raising her whip arm above shoulder height.

CLEAVER – Disappointed for a run between runners approaching the 200m and shifted wider.

TISANI TOMSO – Bumped near the 300m and became unbalanced.

BELEGIC – Hung in shortly after the start, placing another runner in restricted room. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and shifted wider on the track near the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.

BANDIT QUEEN – Shifted in under pressure near the 300m, bumping another runner. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and made contact with another runner after passing the winning post.

LITTLE FIGHTER – Blundered approaching the 300m. Bumped after passing the winning post.

RACE 6: SKY RACING RATINGS BAND 0-70 H’CAP – 1690M

HUSH POWER – Tightened for room at the start.

MR ALFRANCO – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the horse, apprentice T. Wolfgram stated that while it was not the intention to ride the horse forward, after beginning well and being caught wide he elected to allow the gelding to improve forward where it race comfortably in that position. Stewards noted his explanation.

SOVEREIGN SPIDER – Tightened for room at the start.

CAPTAIN FASTBUCK – Tightened for room at the start. Lost its off fore plate in running.

LOVE SHUTTLE – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.

OOSTHUIZEN – Connections advised that it is their intention that the horse be ridden in a mid to forward position should circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Shifted in at the start. Overraced in the early stages.

OUTSTRIP – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. R. McMahon dropped his nearside rein approaching the winning post.

RHIATENN ROAD – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.


RACE 7: CHANNEL 7 F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

NOT A SINGLEMOMENT – Held up for clear running from leaving the 500m until entering the home straight.

BANCHORY LASS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

LILY MY GIRL – Compounded in the home straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider M. Cahill stated that after being ridden hard in the early stages to hold a forward position, the mare refused to settle and then had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn, which was a telling factor on its performance today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slower than normal recovery rate.

ATTITUDINAL MISS – Slow to begin.

PLATINUM MINT – Bumped heavily with another runner on jumping away. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

FRILLY CURTAIN – Held up for clear running and unable to improve approaching the 200m before shifting out and bumping another runner to obtain clear running near the 100m.

RED KISSES – Bumped heavily with another runner on jumping away. Lost near hind plate in running.

DANDY FINE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m.

CHANTILLY MISS – Shifted three wide leaving the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Bumped by another runner approaching the 100m.

RACE 8: SIRROMET WINES C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for failing to properly engage G. Colless as the rider of ROYAL OCCASION, who was subsequently replaced by M. Cahill.

IRON METEORITE – Slow into stride. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider K. Wharton explained that after beginning slowly the gelding never travelled at any stage of the event today and in his opinion was very disappointing. Trainer D. Hansen agreed with the rider's assessment and advised that he may consider starting the horse over a longer distance. Mr Hansen undertook to notify stewards of anything that comes to light in coming days which may have had an effect on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Slow to begin.

EPIC CHOICE – Began awkwardly. After being caught wide, B. Wallace elected to allow his mount to improve forward and race outside the leader.

FASTA THAN LIGHT – Hung out rounding the home turn. Compounded in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SELFIE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Overraced in the middle stages.
