RACE 4: IPSWICH RUGBY LEAGUE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
The start of this race was delayed slightly when PSENTINGOW had to be resaddled.
SAGATONA – Rider T. Wolfgram reported that the filly was a little tardy to begin and after endeavouring to ride the horse, it commenced to buck for a few strides. He said despite this he continued to urge SAGATONA, however it refused to stride and was reluctant to stretch out and for this reason it was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be significantly lame in the near foreleg, which may have resulted from it being struck in that region in the early stages. Mr Birchley was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for SAGATONA and it would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before starting again.
MISS WAR TRACE – Bled both nostrils, first time. Ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.

RACE 8: CHANNEL 7 QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1666M
PUNTA NORTE – M. Cahill explained that he was instructed to endeavour to ride the horse with cover if possible. He said that after being loaded, PUNTA NORTE was somewhat stirred up and sweated up badly. He added that shortly after the start the gelding shifted in abruptly and then overraced in the early stages. He said he was unable to get the horse to settle until he received cover after the 1200m. He said PUNTA NORTE then travelled kindly, however after the 800m it received a bump from its inside by TOUCH OF BELLA, which began to improve into the race, and after receiving this bump, PUNTA NORTE appeared to drop the bit and was reluctant to improve despite his efforts and he was then carried extremely wide on the home turn, however PUNTA NORTE had come to the end of its effort and in the straight was only one-paced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that it would now be his intention to recommend to connections that PUNTA NORTE be gelded.
RED BOWERS – Inconvenienced by POLYNIKES near the 1300m. Jockey T. Bell reported that the gelding failed to run out the journey of 1666m and however was disappointed in its performance. He added that the gelding may benefit from the addition of a tongue tie.
TOUCH OF BELLA – Badly crowded for room shortly after the start.
SILVERENE – Crowded at the start.
HULA GIRL – Hampered shortly after the start. Taken out towards the heels of BENICO'S PRINCE near the 400m and had to be checked. Apprentice B. Apprentice Appo's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 1 March, and expire at midnight on Friday, 13 March 2015. In determining penalty stewards took into account apprentice Appo's guilty plea and his previous good record in regards to this rule.
