SUPPLEMENTARY

From Gold Coast Turf Club 14 March 2015 – Race 6

Trainer M. Leitch reported that SONS OF GOD was found to be lame in the near fore leg following the race due to an abscess on that hoof. Ms Leitch was of the view that this explained the horse's poor performance.

GENERAL

Following rainfall after the scratching deadline the track was initially downgraded to a Soft 6 at 9.30 a.m. and then a Heavy 8 at 10.45 a.m. After downgrading the track to a Heavy 8 stewards had concerns over the section of the track near the 400m. As a consequence the rail between the 600m and 300m was moved from the 8m to the 12m.

RACE 1: Ipswich Cup Tickets On Sale April 7 Maiden SW Plate – 2150m

RING TRUE - App E. Ljung was fined $100.00 for using her whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

RACE 3: Channel 7 Colts, Geldings& Entires H'Cap – 1350m

SEQUALEX – Jockey Harrison was questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted particularly in the early stages and the reason she did not elect to, when racing 3 wide, restrain to trail STAY SCHTUM when the opportunity existed for a considerable distance. Jockey Harrison explained that the gelding is normally the leader in its races and when it has been restrained in the past has not finished the race off as expected. Jockey Harrison added that approaching the 1100m she momentarily restrained in an attempt to obtain cover however, the gelding did not respond to this restraint and for this reason she elected to ride forward. Jockey Harrison further added that she was forced to work harder to get closer to the rail as STAY SCHTUM commenced to overrace and kept improving to her outside until after passing the 800m. Stewards noted her explanation.

STAY SCHTUM – Overraced in the early stages.
