GENERAL

Both PROVEN RECORD in race 1 and NAGAMIE in race 7, were late withdrawals at 10:28am. Trainer B. Laming was fined $400 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to withdraw the horses by the prescribed time.

The explanation tendered by rider D. McGillivray for not being able to take the ride on STAR CHANCE in race 8 was accepted.


RACE 1: RAY WHITE IPSWICH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1680 M

KALAMIA KING – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported the gelding hung out for most of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

LUNE D'EXCELLENCE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider D. Thornton reported the filly raced keenly for the majority of the event and when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Trainer K. Lees was advised a veterinary certificate inclusive of endoscopic examination would be required prior to the filly being permitted to race again. Further, he was notified a warning would be recorded against the filly for its waywardness in the home straight.

LADY THINKABELL – Proved difficult to load. Co-trainers Symons and Laxon were notified that a warning would be recorded against the filly. Rider R. Dolan reported the filly would be better suited to a bigger track and take benefit from the run. Passing the 100m, steadied when tightened onto the hind quarters of EVADE THE GAME by LUNE D’EXCELLENCE, which shifted in before being corrected. In the incident, EVADE THE GAME had its hind quarters turned slightly.

SIX OF WANDS – Rider N. Beriman reported it was not her intention to lead, however; after beginning well, through little effort, the gelding took up the lead.

XTRA LA VITA – When under pressure in the home straight, raced greenly.

TOP LEVEL – Slow to begin.

LADY LAZARUS – Rider J. Baker was fined the sum of $200 pursuant to AR211(1) for weighing in, in excess of a half kilogram over his declared weight.

MISHANI REACTOR – Fractious in the barriers.


RACE 2: GORDON'S GIN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M

ED I AM – Raced 3-wide without cover throughout.

GO MARO – Held up for a run from the 400m until near the 200m.

RASCAL BOI – Slow to begin.

SPOT THE AUSSIE – Raced 3-wide throughout.

SAVEUR – Began awkwardly.

UMAIZA – Near the 500m, steadied when tightened between SPOT THE AUSSIE and SAVEUR (Apprentice B. Wheeler), which shifted out after improving onto the heels of FIVE OF US. In all the circumstances, Apprentice B. Wheeler was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a).


RACE 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M

ALARMING – A post-race veterinary examination determined that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer M. Hoysted was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), ALARMING shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.

IONACELTIC – Held up rounding the home turn until near the 200m. Rider A. Jones reported the gelding raced somewhat greenly in the home straight.

RAGING – Raced keenly for the majority of the event.

O'REILLY'S SHOUT – Raced 3-wide without cover throughout. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the tongue control bit broke during the race, placing his mount at a disadvantage.

RED HUSSY – Shortly after the start, became unbalanced when tightened by PHOENIX STORM, which was taken out by CHANCE DE LINE, which in turn was taken out by RAGING.


RACE 4: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 800 M

BAD FOREST – Slow to begin. Apprentice rider C. Sutherland was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride the gelding out over the final stride of the race.

REVALENE – Held up for a run from approaching the 300m until near the 150m. Checked near the 150m and then went to the end of the race without being fully tested.

DON'T BE DRAMATIC – Upon arrival at the barriers, was found to have blood in its mouth and underwent a veterinary examination.

RUSSIAN PINS – Resaddled upon arrival at the barriers.

MAWSONS EXPEDITION – Bumped at the start.

LI'L REX – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m, momentarily held up on the heels of GIGGY. Near the 50m, was hampered when tightened by RIVA D’AMOR and was not fully tested over the concluding stages.

ALBION SQUARE (GB) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination.

RIVA D'AMOR – Began awkwardly, resulting in rider J. Taylor’s right foot making contact with the inside gate, shifted in and then bumped MAWSONS EXPEDITION. Held up for a run from the 400m to the 300m and then over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.

ON THE TARGET – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination.

Apprentice J. Williams(Don’t be Dramatic) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 150m, he rode his mount out from behind MAWSONS EXPEDITION when not clear of RUSSIAN PINS, which was taken out into the running of REVALENE, resulting in REVALENE being checked and RUSSIAN PINS being inconvenienced. Apprentice J. Williams’ license was suspended for a period of fifteen (15) days commencing midnight Saturday 12 July 2025, concluding midnight Sunday 27 July 2025. When considering penalty, account was taken of App Williams guilty plea, poor record in this area and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.



RACE 5: TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M

HAZ STYLES – Raced 3-wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination found a laceration to its near hind canon and was mildly lame in that leg. The Gollan stable was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

SHAQUE D'AMOUR – Fell near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness to the ribcage and lower abdomen and was referred to West Vets Equine Hospital for further assessment. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

ZOUCHASE – Shifted out on jumping and bumped MISS WANTED. Fell near the150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

DIVINE SOURCE – Raced 3-wide without cover. Checked near the 150m.

FAST FUN – Fell near the 150m. Suffered a catastrophic fracture to the near fore sesamoid and was humanely euthanized. Samples were taken for analysis.

MISS WANTED – Bumped at the start. Checked near the 150m.

FRENCH GUY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the stalls. Slow to begin. Checked near the 150m.

LADY ENCRYPTEAU – Slow to begin. Checked near the 150m.

Passing the 100m, FAST FUN(N. Beriman) faltered badly and fell. SHAQUE D’AMOUR(M. Du Plessis), which was following, fell over the fallen FAST FUN, resulting in ZOUCHASE making contact with SHAQUE D’AMOUR, blundering and rider T. Brooker being dislodged. HAZ STYLES(App E. Lang), which was also following, fell over the fallen SHAQUE D’AMOUR. Interference was caused to all remaining four runners.

All riders were assessed by QAS with M. Du Plessis & N. Beriman being transported to Ipswich hospital for further assessment. Rider T Brooker and App E. Lang were found to have general soreness and stood down from their remaining rides. Replacements were made as per the Stewards’ summary. Due a number of horses falling in this race, the remainder of the meeting was significantly delayed.


RACE 6: TEMPUS TWO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2170 M

Due to the delay following race 5, the starting times for races 6 – 8 were amended. The start of this race was rescheduled to begin at 4:00pm.

BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. For a short distance passing the 1800m, got its head up.

TRUMP CARD (NZ) – Rider A. Jones dropped her whip near the 300m.

MINGARDOS (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages.


RACE 7: RED BULL AUSTRALIA CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1350 M

The start of the race was rescheduled to begin at 4:30pm.

APRIL (NZ) – Slow to begin.

BOKUDEN – Near the 250m, momentarily unbalanced when bumped by APRIL.

DELORIS – Raced 3-wide in the early and middle stages.


RACE 8: GIBSON ARCHITECTS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1350 M

The start of the race was rescheduled to begin at 5:00pm.

CHO OYU – Bumped at the start.

HOLY FLASH – Raced 3-wide in the early and middle stages.

ARAMINTA – Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was fined the sum of $300 pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride ARAMINTA out over the final two strides of the race.

ARMSTRONG BAY – Raced 3-wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

CAILIN ALAINN – Slow to begin.

STAR CHANCE – As no senior rider was available, permission was granted for apprentice rider M. Philpot to be substituted and to claim her allowance off the handicap weight of 54kg. Began awkwardly and bumped CHO OYU. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
