Stewards approved the following overweights –
 
Race 3: J. Guthmann-Chester - +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 7: B. Wheeler - +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 8: J. Guthmann-Chester - +0.5kg (56.5kg)
 
As Apprentice C. Sutherland was unable to fulfill his riding engagement in Race 2 due to transportation difficulties, he was replaced on ONE OF THEM GIRLS by M. Du Plessis. 
 
As rider K. Yoshida was injured at trackwork and not riding at today’s meeting, he was replaced as per the race day summary. Rider K. Yoshida was advised a medical certificate would be required prior to riding again.
 
Following the running of Race 1, rider J. Bayliss was examined by QAS officials after becoming ill and was unable to fulfill his remaining riding engagements. Rider J. Bayliss was replaced as per the race day summary. Rider J. Bayliss was advised a medical certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
RACE 1 - CRUICE CREATIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP          1950 M
 
TRUST IN THE ROCK – Laid in from the 600m, proving somewhat difficult to ride properly; and approaching the 150m, was bumped by SHIP HAPPENS (J. Bayliss), which shifted out to improve. Rider J. Bayliss was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
CLENCH (NZ) – When the pace of the race eased approaching the 1400m, CLENCH was ridden forward around the field to take the lead near the 1100m.

EXODINI – Near the 500m, momentarily steadied from the heels of TRUST IN THE ROCK, which shifted out to improve.
 
SHIP HAPPENS – Raced keen early.    

VEGA SICILIA – Raced keen early. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Rider A. Butler reported the gelding raced keenly early and wide for the majority and consequently, did not finish the race off as expected.


RACE 2 - GORDON'S GIN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE          800 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to GANCEDO and DIVINELLEbecoming fractious leaving the mounting yard.
 
KINKI FISH – When under pressure in the straight, laid out.

DANCING WATER – Approaching the 400m was carried out by GANCEDO, which shifted ground when racing greenly.
 
DIVINELLE – Contacted the rail leaving the mounting yard and underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers. Raced keenly passing the 600m and shifted out, before being corrected. Rounding the home turn and in the straight, laid out.

GANCEDO – Had its tongue tie refitted behind the barriers.

ITZAJUNGLEOUTTHERE – Stumbled as the gates open.
 
LUMINOUS GIRL – In the early part of the home straight, raced greenly.
 
MASHEAN - Apprentice B. Youngberry reported despite the filly not beginning as expected, she was able to take up a leading position and over the concluding stages was found wanting. She added, MASHEAN will take benefit from today’s first up run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a sample was taken.
 

RACE 3 - TAB MAIDEN HANDICAP       1200 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins due to MARSEILLE becoming fractious and cast in the barriers. Underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late withdrawal at 1:22pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on MARSEILLE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st LISTEN JANI 0c win, 1c place
2nd BEAT THE RAP 2c place
3rd TENGUN TANGO 1c place
 
Trainer C. Richardson was advised that MARSEILLE would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
BEAT THE RAP – Began awkwardly.
 
PRINCE OF HARDSHIP – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as a 6yo first starter. Slow into stride.
 
WASAI – Bumped will BODYSNATCHER at the start.
 
MARSEILLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell. Trainer C. Richardson advised that consideration would be placed into the immediate future racing plans for MARSEILLE.
 
KING'S COIN – Rider D. Moor could offer no excuse for the gelding, which was eased down passing the 100m.

LISTEN JANI – When under pressure in the straight, laid in.

HELLUVA ROAD – Approaching the 800m, inconvenienced when momentarily crowded by KING'S COIN, which rolled in and away from BODYSNATCHER.

KIAVELA – When under pressure in the home straight, laid in.

BODYSNATCHER – Got its head up after being bumped by WASAI leaving the gates. In the early stages, raced keenly.


RACE 4 - GIBSON ARCHITECTS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP   1100 M
 
SWIFT STORM – When being corrected near the 1000m, got its head up and lost some ground.

PANEMORFOS – Rider C. Graham reported after beginning awkwardly, the filly failed to show it’s expected early speed and to avoid being caught wide, she elected to find cover, settling worse than midfield. Raced greenly in the middle stages and made the home turn awkwardly.

SUN SISTER – Rider B. Lerena could offer no excuse for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

PERMANENT CHANGE – Slow to begin.         
 
SHEZA BOOM – Over the final 100m, had difficulty obtaining clear running.
 
TOO DARN QUICK – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 5 - FERTPRO FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP   1350 M
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Apprentice M. Philpot, the rider of third placed STORMSTOUT, in the presence of Apprentice Mentor R. Fradd and Trainer R. Howard, to view the official footage of the home straight. After doing so, Apprentice M. Philpot elected not to lodge an objection, and correct weight was declared on the Judges’ numbers.  
 
EL CENTRO – Slow to begin.

WOOT WOOT – Began awkwardly. When making ground approaching the 100m, steadied from the heels of QUALITY MISS, which shifted in. Apprentice L. Martyn reported the filly pulled up somewhat distressed following the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

HEROIC DELANEYS - Approaching the 400m, steadied between SOCIAL PARIAH and WOOT WOOT, both of which shifted ground.

STORMSTOUT – When attempting a tight run approaching the 50m, was tightened by OUR HUNTRESS (NZ), which after shifting out slightly, then shifted back in. Apprentice M. Philpot was advised to ensure there was sufficient racing room when attempting similar runs.
 
JUST WANT YOU BACK – Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
RACE 6 - BARRIER REEF POOLS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP   1350 M
 
TULONG – Change of Tactics – attempt to settle further back from the wide barrier. Shortly after the start, was restrained to obtain cover, settling worse than midfield. For a short distance near the 1000m, raced tight to the inside of RAGING.

ADRANOS – Near the 100m was inconvenienced.

LOCH AWE – Approaching the winning post, laid in, obliging Apprentice C. Baker to stop riding and correct the gelding.
 
HOMERIC – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider R. Wiggins was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
OCTOBER MANIFESTO – Lost its off-hind plate, which was refitted behind the barriers and subsequently underwent a veterinary examination. After beginning awkwardly, was contacted by TRANSGRESS and lost ground.

TRANSGRESS – Rider D. Moor could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.      
 
STABILIZER – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the straight; and near the 100m caused some inconvenience to ADRANOS. Apprentice S. Callow was told she would better advantaged by the use of both hands on her reins to straighten her mounts in similar situations.
 
RAGING - Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

RACE 7 - IPSWICH PARTY HIRE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP   1710 M
 
SEASONS OF MIST – For several strides after the start, raced tight between ZOUSAIN GIRL, which was taken out by CLASSIQUE GAL and CHESAPEAKE BABE (NZ), which was taken in by TEDDY TOO CHEAP. Consequently, SEASONS OF MIST was checked.
 
TWILIGHT STEPS – Held up for a run from the 450m until passing the 200m.
 
WEEKEND SPIRIT – Passing the 300m, badly hampered when ZOUSAIN GIRL (E. Lang), rolled out slightly away from PIERTAGA. TEDDY TOO CHEAP, which was following, was also hampered for several strides. Rider E. Lang was advised to keep her mounts straight where possible. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported he had to make use of the gelding early to obtain a forward position, adding WEEKEND SPIRIT never travelled well throughout the run and proved disappointing overall.
 
TEDDY TOO CHEAP – Near the 300m was hampered.
 
AIMA SUN – Apprentice B. Youngberry reported the mare may not have been suited to today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CLASSIQUE GAL– Noted after the race to have lost its near hind plate.

CHESAPEAKE BABE (NZ) – In the early stages, laid in.
 
ZOUSAIN GIRL – Rider E. Lang dropped her whip near the 300m. Rider E. Lang reported that ZOUSAIN GIRL was making unusual breathing noises upon pulling up and recommended to connections the addition of a tongue tie. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer N. Beck reported the filly was making respiratory noises and would ensure an endoscopic examination would be conducted prior to the filly’s next start.

RACE 8 - RAY WHITE IPSWICH RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP   1100 M
 
EAGLE'S FIRE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the stable, which found minor abrasions to its near hindleg.
 
STARSARISE – Near the 500m, checked when tightened by SHOWN THE DOOR, which laid in and away from SPIRIT FOX, despite rider J. Guthmann-Chesters’s efforts to keep the filly straight. Rider M. Rodd dropped his whip near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its off foreleg.

YES I'M UGLY – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Near the 600m, steadied and became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between SHOWN THE DOOR and SPIRIT FOX. For some distance after this, was awkwardly placed in restricted room when racing keenly.
 
SPIRIT FOX – Began awkwardly. Laid in for a short distance near the 450m.
