______________________________

Race 1: Arthur Gray Life Member Class 1 H’cap – 1060m

The start of this race was delayed when apprentice T. Brooker was dislodged from LADY DENMAN in the saddling enclosure. As Miss Brooker advised she did not require medical attention and fulfilled her engagement. The start was further delayed when the bridle of HENNY’S HOPE, which was very fractious in the saddling enclosure, required attention and was subsequently replaced.

NOOR DROPPER – Began awkwardly and shifted in, making heavy contact with another runner. The saddle on the mare shifted shortly after the start, placing her at a disadvantage throughout.

FROSTBITE – Bumped heavily at the start. Apprentice M. Schrapel advised stewards that, in his opinion, the gelding was not comfortable in today’s track conditions.

SNIPPET EXPRESS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung in under pressure in the straight.

VIVID IMAGINATION – Apprentice J. Oliver pleaded to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 400m when insufficiently clear of LADY DENMAN, which was taken in on to FROSTBITE, which had to be checked and lose its rightful running. J. Oliver’s licence to ride in races for a period of 9 days, which to commence at midnight, 3 November and to expire at midnight, 12 November.

HENNY’S HOPE – Raced wide in the early stages.

Race 2: Lionel Richard, Class 3 H’cap – 1200m

The start was delayed due to repairs carried out as a result of a barrier malfunction. Subsequently, all race times were rescheduled back one race time with Race 7 to be run at 5.05 pm.

ALL OUR WIVES – Raced wide for the majority of the race and had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Peter Boyce Life Member Class 2 H’cap – 1500m

Correct weight was delayed to allow, S. Payne, rider of the 2nd placegetter, CORONATION BRUISER, to view the stewards patrol film to view the stewards patrol film rounding the home turn to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against RED LETTER being declared the winner. Subsequently S. Payne declined to lodge a protest.

Race 4: Butler McDermott Lawyers Maiden – 1500m

WHEN IN DOUBT – Slow to begin.

AMBER LIGHTS – Apprentice J. Hodge reported his saddle shifted back on jumping away, placing him at a disadvantage throughout.

SHE’S REAL – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

WATASTORY – Made the turn out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out, forcing MURTA SHE RODE wider.

SHOCKWAVE – When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, apprentice J. Oliver stated that, in his opinion, the horse may not have backed up from its previous run on 24 October 2015 and further may not have handled today’s track conditions and was disappointing. Trainer B. Currie was of the opinion that the colt failed to handle today’s track conditions and quick back up from its previous start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 5: Miriam Gittins Life Member QTIS 3yo Ratings Band 0-62 H’cap – 800m

WHATEVER MISS – Bumped at the start.

HIGH COST – Bumped at the start.

ISLAND TANG – Began awkwardly.

MIA MADALENA – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied near the 500m when attempting to take a narrow run between MAKE AMENDS, which shifted in slightly, and ISLAND TANG. M. Cox, rider of MAKE AMENDS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances, and S. Eilbeck, rider of MIA MADALENA, was advised to exercise greater care when attempting to take narrow runs.

CASSE BLEU – Approaching and rounding the home turn improved onto the heels of ISLAND TANG and had to be steadied.

MISS RICCIARDO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: Carlton Mid Cannonball Series Heat Benchmark 70 - 800m

CANNIZZARO – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

LONE ASSASSIN – Had to be steadied near the 300m when racing in restricted room to the inside of CANNIZZARO, which shifted in slightly and GOLD BUTTONS, which shifted out. S. Payne, rider of GOLD BUTTONS, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided for the horse prior to racing again.

IGNEOUS – Shifted out approaching the home turn, drifting wider on the track.

Race 7: Kilcoy Exchange Hotel H’cap – 1900m

WITHOUT GRIEF – Reared as the start was effected and was tightened for room and lost ground. Jockey G. Goold reported that it had been his intention to ride in a position on speed, however after beginning poorly he was obliged to ride at the tail of the field and this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance.

PERFECTLY ALIGNED – Stewards inquired into an incident near the 800m when the horse had to be checked. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that PERFECTLY ALIGNED raced in restricted room to the inside of HIDRIFTER and from the 1200m until near the 800m persisted in trying to improve into a doubtful run to the inside of that runner which then shifted in near the 800m when taken across by O’GRADY, which was not fully 2 lengths clear, which resulted in PERFECTLY ALIGNED being checked and HIDRIFTER being steadied. Noting all the circumstances, T. Banks, rider of O’GRADY, was severely reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground. Apprentice J. Hodge, rider of HIDRIFTER, was reprimanded and advised that he had erred in persisting for a doubtful run from leaving the 1200m until near the 800m when another option was available.

O’GRADY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
