BIGCAT – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Forced inwards and steadied from the heels of GALATH (NZ) approaching the winning post. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident, Jockey M Heagney, the rider of MONDAY CHOICE was issued a severe reprimand for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that over the concluding stages he did permit his mount to shift in under riding, forcing SUPERSTITIOUS (Jockey M Gray) inwards ultimately forcing BIGCAT (Apprentice V Soulsby) inwards resulting in that runner being steadied from the heels of GALATH (NZ) which laid out slightly at that point. Apprentice Soulsby reported on returning to scale that BIGCAT travelled well throughout the event but in her opinion the gelding may not have been suited by todays racing surface and felt awkward in its action after pulling up and returning to the mounting yard. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.
