Race 1: MILES IGA/CHAPLAIN BUTCHERY CLASS B HCAP – 1050m

CHILLDOWN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

MASAKARI – Inclined to hang in in the early stages.

A DEAL OF HONOUR – Raced wide without cover throughout. When questioned about the mare's performance, Jockey S. Apthorpe reported that after being caught wide the mare had to cover more ground than he would have liked, however he was not disappointed in the performance as the mare was resuming after 11 months and would take a fitness benefit from today's event. Stewards noted the explanation.

FIELDS OF OXLEY – Raced wide around the home turn.

Race 2: TRAKIDA/PFD FOODS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1050m

SECOND HAND LION – Slow to begin. Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.

DELIGHTFUL DANCER – Apprentice L. Tilley reported that the filly was inclined to hang in in the early stages.

WITHOUT FORCE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 800m when DELIGHTFUL DANCER (App. L. Tilley) shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Tilley was issued with a reprimand for this incident. When questioned regarding the performance of WITHOUT FORCE, which raced below market expectations, Apprentice N. Ogura reported that today's event was the gelding's first start on a dirt track, and in his opinion the gelding did not handle today's track conditions. Stewards noted the explanation.

PROMISES – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened leaving the 800m.

SUPERSTAR BELL – Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer's representative Mr. D. McEwan reported that the stable intended to have the mare scoped and undertook to report to stewards any findings. Nonetheless, Mr. McEwan was informed that a warning would be placed on the horse for being uncompetitive, and that it would be ineligible to start at TAB venues until it has established competitive form at country tracks.

UNDER THE WEATHER – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: MURILLA CUP OPEN HCAP– 1200m

ON ICE NOW – Began awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice G. Leung reported that after being bumped at the start he was forced to race at the rear of the field, which is contrast to the mare's usual racing pattern. He added that he felt the pace of today's event did not suit ON ICE NOW and that the mare needed slightly more distance. Stewards noted the explanation.

KATIKA – Shifted out and bumped another runner shortly after the start.

AWESOME SIGHT – Raced wide without cover throughout.

GAELSTORM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 4: THE QLD HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 HCAP– 1200m

RELENTLESS HEART – Raced wide around the home turn.

MAGIC OF LOVE – B. Appo was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of .5kg over his allotted weight. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Appo's submissions regarding his recent medical history.

KUNG FU KITTY – Apprentice L. Tilley was fined $100 for failing to weigh in for fifth place.

Race 5: JOHN MULLINS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HCAP – 1500m

EXTRATUM – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner.

STEEL TO THE HEEL – Bumped at the start. When questioned regarded the gelding's improved performance, trainer P. Overell explained that the gelding needs to be ridden out strongly in the home straight and that in his opinion today's improvement was due to the gelding being ridden by a more experienced apprentice. Stewards noted the explanation.

I'M NO PUSSY – Began awkwardly with its head up. Stewards questioned Apprentice B. Newport regarding the tactics he adopted from the 600m to entering the home straight, particularly his decision to shift to the outside of STEEL TO THE HEEL, which resulted in him racing unnecessarily wide around the home turn. Apprentice Newport explained that he elected to shift wider at that point as his mount was travelling well and he was not confident of obtaining a run to the inside of STEEL TO THE HEEL, however after viewing the video footage he agreed that he had erred on this occasion. Taking into account Apprentice Newport's explanation and inexperience, Stewards took no further action.

EASY TO SMILE – Raced wide without cover.

JUNCTION SPUR – Raced wide throughout.
