SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Townsville Turf Club, Friday 28th November 2014

Race 3: Townsville UDP Open Handicap 1400 metres

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into App. L. Attard's riding of CASTLE EXPRESS. Following the adjournment of the inquiry stewards examined the details of all on-course and off-course betting, which failed to disclose any irregularities. After taking into account further submissions from App. Attard stewards advised him that in their opinion between the 1000 metres and the 700 metres he permitted his mount to get too far back in a slowly run race and should have made a greater effort to obtain a position closer to the tail of the field, rather than 3 or 4 lengths behind the second-last horse. Stewards further advised App. Attard that his riding lacked the judgment of an apprentice rider at his level. App. Attard was told also that he should ensure that he rides his mounts in a manner that leaves no room for query.

GENERAL

Stewards today concluded an inquiry, opened on 30th November 2041, into an incident involving trainer Mr W. Pomfrett. The inquiry was adjourned on that date and resumed at the Mackay meeting on 11th December 2014, when evidence was taken from Mr Pomfrett, and by teleconference from his brother Paul Pomfrett and from Tony Gibson and Tom Walters, following which the inquiry was further adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Today stewards informed Mr Pomfrett that they were unable to reach the standard of proof required to proceed with a charge of misconduct and consequently no further action will be taken.

As Jockey T. Bannon was injured and unable to fulfil her engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Bannon was advised that she must provide a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.

Race 3: Barcam Electrical Services BenchMark 75 Handicap - 1050 metres

The start was delayed while stewards considered objections lodged by Mr T. Cook, the trainer of PRINCELY which finished 3rd, against WILDEBEAST (D. Evans) being declared 2nd and KATHERINE GORGE (M. Abe) being declared 1st, alleging interference inside the 200 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the patrol films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that, in respect of the protest by third against second, WILDEBEAST shifted in a horse and a half near the 200 metres, PRINCELY had not obtained the run and accordingly that protest was dismissed. In respect of the protest by 3rd against 1st, whilst KATHERINE GORGE shifted marginally, stewards could not be satisfied that, had the interference not occurred PRINCELY would have finished ahead of KATHERINE GORGE. Accordingly, that protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judge's numbers.

After the declaration of correct weight stewards inquired into an incident involving trainer T. Cook and trainer L. Wright. After taking initial evidence from both parties, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed.
