Race 1: PATRONS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by App J. Hodge, rider of the 3rd placegetter Boomtown Girl, against M. Abe rider of Mervyndave being declared 2nd, alleging interference over the final stages. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing stewards patrol video, it was established Mervyndave did shift in under pressure causing tightening to Boomtown Girl over the concluding stages, however given the ½ head margin between the horses and the proximity of the incident to the finish, stewards could not be satisfied that a reversal of placings was warranted and dismissed the objection.
