Race 1: SERRA DRILLING Maiden Plate 3yo & Up – 900 Metres
LOUIS AUGUSTE – As the gelding had not raced for an extended period, a pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken, and it was passed fit to race. Began awkwardly on jumping and shifted out.
EVITA LASS – Slow to begin.
ANY NEWS – Shifted in nearing the 700 metres and crowded SING SING BABY. Jockey R. Shred was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
SING SING BABY – Crowded near the 700 metres and momentarily steadied then raced wide for the remainder of the race.
THUNDER BLAZE – Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
Race 2: MAREEBA GLASS & ALUMINIUM QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 Handicap – 1000 Metres
THIRD MASTER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
CHARM TELLER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
FOR ADELINE – Slow into stride and raced wide for the majority of the race.
SNUGGLES – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer J Ball was advised a warning was to be placed on the mares parading manners. Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the race.
SPEEDY TARGET – Stewards inquired into the improved performance of the gelding and were advised by Trainer A. Malliff the gelding had been freshened since its previous start and had pleased him in its work during the week. He further stated that after being able to obtain the lead and dictate the pace of the race, also being on its home track was also beneficial. His explanation was noted.
Race 3: GRAHAM HOTEL MAREEBA BRACELET Open Plate – 1123 Metres
GAMADALE NIP – Slow to begin.
NEW HAMPSHIRE – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
VINCENZO – Raced wide in the middle stages of the race.
Race 4: QUALITY SHEDS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap – 1210 Metres
BOMBINATE – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped CYCLONE COCO.
CYCLONE COCO – Bumped shortly after the start.
TSUNAMI – Raced wide without cover in the middle stages of the race.
REDLIGHTS ON – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 5: PUMPING IRRIGATION AND MACHINERY SERVICES MAREEBA CUP BENCHMARK 68 Handicap – 1800 Metres
HEIR JORDAN – Moved in shortly after jumping and tightened MEDAL which was on the outside of SHARMAN PETE. Shifted wider to improve near the 800 metres and then at approximately the 400 metres commenced to compound and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed it had suffered an injury to its off-fore tendon. Trainer A. Malliff was advised by stewards a full veterinary clearance was now required prior to the geldings next trial or race start.
SHARMAN PETE – Moved out shortly after jumping and tightened MEDAL which was on the inside of HEIR JORDAN.
MEDAL (NZ) – Tightened shortly after the start.
INCHING CLOSER – Raced keenly in the middle stages when improving forward from the 1600 metres.
