The start of the race was delayed due to two stray dogs having to be removed from the back straight.
Gardenzio – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice B Moffat advised that Gardenzio was stepping up in distance from its last start win which was over 1200 metres. He stated that Gardenzio had struggled to run the longer distance of today’s event after being taken on in the lead in the early and middle stages by the eventual winner Super Story.
The Last Crusade – Jumped awkwardly and blundered shortly after the start. Raced three wide for the remainder of the event.
Race 2: SUNSET BUTCHERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 900 Metres -$10,000 - 2.10 P.M.

Welloutofreach – Trainer Ms. E Morton was questioned regarding the improved performance in winning today’s event in comparison to the gelding’s previous start on 31 May 2025 at Cloncurry when the gelding finished 8th of 9 runners beaten 14 lengths. Ms. Morton advised that Welloutofreach had turned its head in the barriers at its previous start losing considerable ground when the gates opened. She advised that Welloutofreach races well at Mount Isa and had now won 3 of its last four starts on this track. As such, Ms. Morton had been confident of the geldings’ chances in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation of Trainer Morton.
Wicklow Lass (NZ) – Raced four wide throughout.
Race 3: ATULL PLUMBING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres - $10,000 - 2.50 P.M.

On returning to scale, Apprentice Moffatt advised trainer T Parry that he felt the mare resented the bit and suggested a change.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was issued to connections.
Philadelphia Free – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 5: TREVOR MORRIS BUILDERS OPEN PLATE - 1200 Metres - $10,000 - 4.10 P.M.
