GENERAL:
App. B. Appo was fined $100 under A.R. 86 for being inappropriately dressed.
Apprentice D. J. Evans advised stewards that his riding weight will be 51.5kg for today. Public announcements were made accordingly.
LATE RIDING CHANGES
When Jockey R. McMahon was unable to arrive on course, due to flight delays and an issue with his riding gear, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: XXXX Gold Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st CASIROLL 2nd BUTCHER BOY 3rd RADIANT JOY 4th - CRACOW
BUTCHER BOY - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MY MIRAGE - Was slow into stride.
STRADA TITLE - Commenced to race keenly from near the 1200 metres and near the 1000 metres was steadied from heels.
RADIANT JOY - Raced wide throughout.
CRACOW - Rider reported that his mount raced flat and may have been affected by the heat.
Race 2: Racing at Callaghan Park Saturday 3rd January 2015 QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st THE LAD'S MY DAD 2nd AINT SHE WONDERFUL 3rd CRAIGLEA ALDI 4th - NINETTE KAN
THE LAD'S MY DAD - Was a little slow to begin.
ALWAYS DOUBLE - Began awkwardly.
BOLD AVENUE - Was slow to begin. Following the race the rider reported that the gelding raced greenly in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer advised that the horse will now be spelled.
CRAIGLEA ALDI - Jumped outwards at the start and made contact with another runner.
CRAIGLEA THUNDER - Contacted by another runner at the start.
Race 3: Fenlons Comfort Inn Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
1st FERRIGNO 2nd LITTLE MOUNTAIN 3rd LIGHTNING ARTIST 4th - SYLVAN GLADER
TERANASAURUS- Began awkwardly
SUNDAY SAGA - Raced wide throughout.
HAYYLER'S AFFAIR - Raced wide throughout.
LITTLE MOUNTAIN - Began awkwardly.
FERRIGNO - Shifted out at the start.
NOWHERETOSOMEWHERE - At the start shifted out and made contact with another runner.
TREMONT - At the start contacted by another runner, which shifted out. Near the 400 metres when laying in attempted a tight run to the inside of another runner, laid in on heels and blundered, then was unbalanced until near the 200 metres and finished the race off well.
LAYAN - Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Summer Bright (Open) Handicap - 1100 metres
1st MYTHOLOGIST 2nd TERMS OF TRADE 3rd PRINCE MONASHEE 4th - COVERT CHARMOUR
BLAZE TO FORTUNE - Was slow to begin and further hampered between runners which shifted ground on jumping.
Race 5: Hahn 3.5 Class 1 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st PHOTOBOMB 2nd ZAHA DREAM 3rd PRIMED FOR DESTINY 4th - LAKE ARGYLE
DE MESTRE - Began awkwardly and lost some ground. Near the 900 metres was placed under pressure to improve and raced onto the heels of another runner and had to be steadied.
ZAHA DREAM - Leaving the 600 metres hung out and caused another runner to steady.
LAKE ARGYLE - Had to be steadied leaving the 600 metres.
FORBARREL - Was slow to begin.
SPIRIT BEAT - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
KERNEL - A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was resuming following a significant spell, did not reveal any abnormalities and the horse was cleared to take its place in the field. Raced wide throughout.
REAL FRENCH SAGA Raced wide throughout.
Following this race Jockey Dale Evans was stood down from his further engagements as he became indisposed. Jockey Evans was advised that he must furnish a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.
Race 6: Toohey’s Extra Dry BM70 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - SPRING ROSE 2nd - DASH FOR VIZ 3rd - POWER RANGER 4th - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
ALOTTA MOJO - The explanation tendered by trainer L. Rowe for the late declaration of C. McIver as rider was accepted.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Initially Jockey Dale Evans was declared as the rider of the gelding, however due to the hot weather conditions and the need to remain hydrated, he was unable to make the allotted weight and Jockey S. Sheargold was substituted.
HEART THROB - Shifted in onto another runner. Over-raced in the early stages. From the 400 metres until near the 300 metres was unable to obtain clear running.
DASH FOR VIZ - Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 100 metres shifted in under pressure and bumped another runner, which became awkward.
WILDEBEAST - Prior to the race the trainer advised stewards that the gelding would be ridden back in the field, if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Shortly after the start, whilst being restrained, raced ungenerously. Near the 100 metres bumped and became awkward.
RISHONA - Raced wide throughout.
POWER RANGER - Raced wide throughout.
An attempt was made to obtain a urine sample from the winner, SPRING ROSE, however as the vet was required to attend to an injured horse, no sample was taken from that horse. A urine sample was taken from DASH FOR VIZ, which finished 2nd.
Race 7: Bacardi Oakheart Class 1 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - ZARADA ANGEL 2nd - CHINABOB/HOPE SPRINGS (DH) - 4th - SUPPOSING
SPANISH MAIDEN - When Jockey D. Evans was indisposed and no senior rider was available at or near the allotted weight, Apprentice Darren Evans was substituted. On returning to scale shied and collided with CHINABOB. Both riders suffered a harmless fall.
WHAT'S UP SNIP - Contacted another runner at the start. Near the 600 metres, eased when another runner shifted out marginally.
CHINABOB - Made contact with another runner at the start.
ALL BAR THE JEWELS - Raced wide for the majority of the event. Near the 100 metres had to take evasive action to avoid injured horse.
PASSAPAROLE - Raced wide for the majority of the event. Taken wider near the 1050 metres. Broke down in near foreleg approaching the 100 metres dislodging its rider, who suffered a harmless fall. The filly was subsequently euthanased.
OUTBACK SAPPER - Near the 1050 metres commenced to over-race and when steadied shifted out, taking another runner wider.
SUPPOSING - Leaving the 600 metres shifted out marginally forcing another runner to ease.
