GENERAL:

Racing Queensland stewards attended on-course and off-course stables on Friday morning and afternoon. Items were collected from one trainer’s stable and will be sent for analysis. On attending the stables of an off-course trainer a disqualified person was observed at these premises. An inquiry will be held into this matter.

Trainer N. Manion was fined $200 for failing to make a treatment book available for inspection.

Race 1: XXXX Gold BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st ROC’ DA FLOOR 2nd RADIANT JOY 3rd CASIROLL 4th - SIALIA MAGIC

SIALIA MAGIC - When App. M. McGillivray was unable to claim to his riding weight, App. B. Stower was substituted as the rider of the mare.

CASIROLL - Pulled hard in the early stages.

FEROCITY BLUE - Raced wide throughout.

BUTCHER BOY - When questioned regarding performance of the gelding the rider stated that he had been instructed to obtain a mid to rearward position, and was able to balance up at the rear of the field, however raced uncomfortably, was under pressure prior to straightening and responded fairly, but failed to make significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was showing a significantly poor post-race recovery.

Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded from a Soft 5 to a Good 4 retrospectively.

Race 2: Hahn 3.5 Maiden Handicap - 1300 metres
1st MACHO TYCOON 2nd DUQUESNE WHISTLE 3rd CASH FOR MURTAL 4th - LAYAN

The explanation for the late declaration of Jockey J. P. Stanley as the rider of HAYYLER'S AFFAIR was accepted. Nevertheless, the trainer was advised of her requirements regarding difficulty in engaging riders.

The start of this race was delayed to allow for an interstate broadcast.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey S. McGovern to view the photo finish for third. Having done so, he elected not to take the matter any further.

COOL DELIGHT - Slow to begin.

JOFFA VALOUR - Slow to begin.

NATONYA - Slow to begin.

CAPITALISED - Slow to begin and then shortly after the start was hampered when another runner shifted out.

BUZZING TIMBRAL - Shortly after the start shifted out and hampered another runner.

INFLUENCES - Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.

CASH FOR MURTAL - When questioned regarding the filly travelling in a forward position, the rider explained that he had been instructed to endeavour to begin well, however it was left to his discretion, depending on the circumstances. He added that rather than be caught wide in the early stages he elected to obtain a forward position one off the running rail. He added that he was aware that the filly lacked a long sprint, and in his opinion would perform better if ridden quietly.

THE EUNUCH - The rider said that the performance was disappointing. He explained that the gelding raced in restricted room rounding the home turn and failed to finish off the race. Trainer L. Rowe confirmed that the horse will now be sent for a spell.

Race 3: Toohey’s Extra Dry Class 3 Plate - 1300 metres
1st COURT CLOWN 2nd ZARADA ANGEL 3rd OUTBACK LIGHTNING 4th - FAITH 'N' BELIEF

ZARADA ANGEL - The rider reported that the gate on the barrier was slow to open.

OUTBACK LIGHTNING - Began a little awkwardly.

INKJET SPRINTER - Restrained shortly after the start to take up a position back in the field and closer to the running rail. Trainer would confer with connections regarding the horse being sent for a spell.

RECESS - Raced wide throughout.

NOT SO SOBER - The rider reported that he became concerned with the mare's action and consequently eased the horse down from near the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer T. Burgoyne advised stewards that he intends to send the horse for a spell.

SUTTON LUKE - Rider reprimanded under A.R. 142 for failing to weigh in for 5th.

Race 4: Farewell Hansen’s Catering Class 1 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st RICHIE ROCKET 2nd HOPE SPRINGS 3rd SUPPOSING 4th - SAY MY NAME

TREMONT - Prior to the race trainer J. McConachy informed stewards that he would instruct the jockey to ride the gelding forward from its inside barrier. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Near the 900 metres, when over-racing, was steadied from heels.

HOPE SPRINGS - Began awkwardly.

ALERT THIS CITY – Began awkwardly.

BLUE JEST - When the butterfly bit pulled through its mouth from near the 500 metres, the gelding began to shift outwards, allowing HOPE SPRINGS to improve to its inside, taking ALERT THIS CITY out onto TREMONT. In the straight BLUE JEST shifted out further. An initial post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities; however a subsequent examination revealed that the gelding had bruising of the nearside cheek.

Race 5: Happy New Year 2015 Class 2 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st PHOTOBOMB 2nd SHOW US THE WAY 3rd CRABBING 4th - FADED

PHOTOBOMB - Prior to Race 1 stewards determined that Apprentice N. Vuille had a firm engagement for the gelding and ordered that she be paid a losing ride fee and any winning percentage, in accordance with L.R. 52.

When Apprentice M. McGillivray was unable to claim his full allowance, Apprentice Darren Evans was substituted as the rider of EMOTIONALLY YOURS. App. McGillivray was fined $200.

ODE TO ME - Began awkwardly and appeared to go down behind.

EMOTIONALLY YOURS - Slow to begin and lost ground.

LEAPS AND BOUNDS - Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Summer Bright QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1050 metres
1st - EXTRA SHOT 2nd - CRAIGLEA IVY 3rd - JEB'S BOY 4th - CLAPPERS

CLAPPERS - Trainer A. O'Sullivan reported that following the gelding's most recent start, blood analysis had revealed a kidney complaint, for which it received treatment. Public announcements were made advising patrons accordingly.

LITTLE WHITE DOVE - Was slow to begin, shifted in and lost ground.

MAMSELLE CORDAY - Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Following the race the trainer reported that the filly had struck its head on the gates.

COURT LANE - Was slow to begin.

EXTRA SHOT - Shifted in marginally at the 900 metres, resulting in CRAIGLEA IVY being taken inwards and JEB'S BOY having to be steadied.

CRAIGLEA IVY - At the 900 metres was taken inwards by another runner.

JEB'S BOY - Had to be steadied at the 900 metres.

Race 7: Bacardi Oakheart (Open) Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - MYTHOLOGIST 2nd - MOTORISED 3rd - BAHSA 4th - FLAGGES FLYING

TERMS OF TRADE - As the start was effected, attempted to get its head down, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had blood in its mouth.

MOTORISED - Was re-saddled behind the barriers.

MOSSANAY - Made contact with another runner on jumping.

MYTHOLOGIST - Bumped on jumping.

FLAGGES FLYING - Rider dropped his whip near the 200 metres.
