SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Rockhampton, 15th Janualy 2015
Trainer L. Rose reported that FERRIGNO had sustained a stone bruise to its near fore toe, was lame and the injury had been treated. Mr Rowe was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to FERRIGNO being permitted to race again.
Race 1: USG Boral BM 65 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st TANGARA 2nd SUPPOSING 3rd CASIROLL 4th - SIR STANLEY
CASIROLL - Bounded in air at start and lost ground. Stewards inquired into rider's instructions and tactics.She said instructions were to lead, but after being slow to begin urged her mount forward, crossed the field and led comfortably. She was unaware of wide gap between her mount and the field. Trainer confirmed instructions given but was of the opinion that App. Vuille should have restrained her mount in the middle stages and her failure to do so was detrimental to the horse's performance. He said that horse will step up in distance. Stewards' opinion that rider had erred in that she failed to restrain her mount in the middle stages. Explanations were noted and matter will be addressed with RQ Apprentice mentors.
ZARADA ANGEL - Was slow to begin. The trainer's representative informed stewards of his intention to spell the mare.
Race 2: Phil Peel Leading Edge Jewellers QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st THE GIRLS IN PARIS 2nd CRAIGLEA THUNDER 3rd SHE'S BOODIFUL 4th - CRAIGLEA ALTISE
RING DING - The gelding was scratched as it had swelling in its near fore fetlock, and will be freshened up prior to its next start.
PENNYCALAINE - Made contact with another runner at the start.
BREAKFAST SHOW - Contacted by another runner at the start and lost some ground.
KAIDA - Began awkwardly and lost some ground.
CRAIGLEA ALDI - In the early and middle stages raced wide and was inclined to hang out.
Race 3: Giddy Goat Café Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
1st SAMARAH GIRL 2nd DUQUESNE WHISTLE 3rd MISS HOFFA 4th - THANK YOU
FASTNET STORM - Was slow to begin.
BROKEN ELEMENT - Made contact with another runner shortly after the start. Leaving the 400 metres laid out and bumped another runner.
FOOLISH THOUGHT - Contacted by another runner at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained lacerations to the mouth. Trainer T. Cook advised stewards that the gelding will now be spelled.
YA RECKON - Contacted by another runner at the start and was slow to begin.
THANK YOU - Bumped another runner at the start.
LADY PEMBROKE - Bumped leaving the 400 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
DUQUESNE WHISTLE - Laid out under pressure from the 200 metres.
SAMARAH GIRL - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained lacerations to the mouth.
MISS HOFFA - Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Adam’s Plant Hire Pty Ltd Class 6 Plate - 1200 metres
1st CASINO BENJO 2nd CUMANI 3rd SIGMUND 4th - SWEET TABOO
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the official patrol films to determine whether any objection should be made regarding an incident between CUMANI and SIGMUND. It was established that from the 150 metres CUMANI shifted out, however there was no contact with SIGMUND, and that from the 50 metres both horses raced tight, however there was no impediment to either horse or rider. Accordingly, correct weight was declared on the judge's placings.
GREAT DANSAAR - Was slow to begin.
CUMANI - After arriving at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was cleared to take its place in the field.
SIGMUND - Raced wide throughout.
DASH FOR VIZ - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K. Miller was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
Race 5: Cranston’s Pies QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1100 metres
1st MISTER BOOZE 2nd MAYPOLE 3rd JEB'S BOY 4th - MADAM PINK
COURT LANE - Prior to the race connections advised stewards that the filly would be ridden more forward today, if circumstances permitted. Public announcements were made and the horse was ridden accordingly.
SEIDE TRACK - After being placed in the barriers became fractious and reared. The gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. The trainer's representative was advised that he must furnish a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. Raced wide throughout.
CRAIGLEA JETT - Was slow to begin. Near the 200 metres lay in onto the heels of another runner.
BEST HURRAH- Raced greenly near the 100 metres.
NAVAL BELLE - Was slow to begin.
LITTLE WHITE DOVE - Was slow to begin.
CRAIGLEA IVY - Raced wide until near the 700 metres. Leaving the 1000 metres raced ungenerously. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained a laceration to its tongue and the outside of its offside cheek.
MAYPOLE - Was held up and unable to obtain clear running leaving the 400 metres, and at the 200 metres was shifted out to improve.
Race 6: Wendy Mulry Travel Class 3 Plate - 1100 metres
1st - PRIMED FOR DESTINY 2nd - PRINCE DAN 3rd - OSSENHAGEN 4th - CRACKER NIGHT
ROWEINER - Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
EMOTIONALLY YOURS- Slow to begin.
GO DIGGER - Slow to begin.
STATING - Was slow to begin. Rider reminded of his obligation in regard to the use of the whip on a horse that is out of contention.
MONBAZILLAC - At the start jumped in and made contact with another runner.
CRACKER NIGHT - Near the 250 metres shifted in slightly and made contact with BAZINSKY, which in turn made contact with the hindquarters of BORN TO SURVIVE, which became unbalanced.
HIGH CHANCELLOR - Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
LEAPS AND BOUNDS - Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Summer Bright Lager with Natural Lime Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st - OUTBACK SAPPER 2nd - FORBARREL 3rd - MANDALONG CATATAC 4th - SERENE PEARL
PRICELESS HEART- Reared and was fractious in the barrier. Removed and underwent a veterinary inspection, cleared to race. Trainer J O’Sing will be advised that a further barrier certificate will be required. Taken out at the start, hampered. Near the 1100 metres, eased from heels of another runner.
STRIKE ZONE- Began awkwardly. Taken wider near the 600 metres and near the 400 metres.
RIVARIVA- Began awkwardly.
HOT PLATE- Jumped out on another runner. A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any abnormalities.
WOLF HUNTER- Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out at the 600 metres and shifted ground near the 400 metres. Warning to be placed on its racing manners.
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred near the 900 metres. Jockey D. Evans was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that he permitted DAM FLASH to shift in when insufficiently clear of FORBARREL, which was checked and taken inwards, tightening SERENE PEARL. Stewards noted that JUNGLE SPIRIT may have shifted out slightly and contributed to SERENE PEARL clipping its heels. Jockey Dale Evans’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covering 2 meetings, to commence at midnight on 30th January 2015, up to and including 7th February 2015.
