SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Thangool 18th July 2026 – Race 5 ACCOUNTING & YOU OPEN HANDICAP (1075M)
DIDDLEY SQUAT – Trainer Glenda Bell reported that, following its return to the stable, DIDDLEY SQUAT was examined by her stable veterinarian, who found no further abnormalities. She further stated that the gelding has been treated for its muscle soreness and confirmed her intention to continue with the gelding’s current preparation.


GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 4 – Warwick Satherley (LONERGY) +0.5kg

As apprentice Fiona Sandkuhl was unable to attend today’s meeting due to her flight being cancelled, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Due to the short notice provided to apprentice Steph Tierney in relation to being the approved replacement rider on LUXOR PRINCE in Race 7, apprentice Tierney was unable to claim her full 3kg allowance and was permitted by stewards to only claim 2.0kg.


RACE 1 – GREAT NORTHERN QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD AND THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

ALL BANGED UP – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 250m. Shifted wider leaving the 100m after being inconvenienced by JUNGLE WONDER.

JUNGLE WONDER – Leaving the 100m, commenced to lay in momentarily inconveniencing ALL BANGED UP, which had to shift wider as a result.

CIPHER DASH – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out when struck with the whip leaving the 200m, hampering I WANT IT ALL. Apprentice Sophie Wilcock was issued a reprimand under the provisions of AR 131(a) for allowing her mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.
I WANT IT ALL – Began awkwardly. Hampered leaving the 200m when CIPHER DASH shifted out when struck with the whip.

THREE RIVERS – Overraced in the early stages. Inclined to lay in when racing greenly in home straight and had to be straightened by its rider on multiple occasions.


RACE 2 – TAB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M

BALLANDELLA STREET – Hampered shortly after the start when JETHRO shifted in. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out leaving the 300m taking DEEJAYWIP wider, which in turn carried TURBO TORQUE outwards.

DEEJAYWIP – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 400m. Taken wider leaving the 300m by BALLANDELLA STREET.

MR DEMOCRAT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Disappointed for a run leaving the 300m resulting in MR DEMOCRAT having to be shifted in to obtain clear running.

NAVY KISS – Overraced in the early stages.

TURBO TORQUE – Began awkwardly then bumped shortly after. Raced keenly in the early stages. Carried outwards leaving the 300m.

JETHRO – Shortly after the start, shifted in abruptly hampering BALLANDELLA STREET. Apprentice Nikki Olzard was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(a) for allowing her mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Inclined to over-race in the early stages when leading. When questioned regarding the performance of JETHRO, apprentice Nikki Olzard stated that she could offer no tangible explanation for the performance and added that the gelding travelled well in the initial stages of the event however on entering the home straight, the gelding failed to respond when asked for an effort and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer Kevin Miller was advised to report back to stewards in the subsequent days if anything arises that may have attributed to the gelding’s performance.

TIGER ROCKET – Shifted out on jumping bumping with TURBO TORQUE. Raced wide without cover throughout.


RACE 3 – CAULFIELD CUP TICKETS ON SALE CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600M

SMART MISSION – Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and refused to settle. Approaching the 1200m, had to be shifted wider to avoid the heels of SETTAT (NZ) when that runner slackened the pace when being restrained. Apprentice Nikki Olzard was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(d) for excessively reducing the speed of her mount when leading. Taken wider leaving the 800m when SETTAT(NZ) shifted out.

BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping bumping with SKILFUL ARTIST.

SKILFUL ARTIST – Shifted out on jumping bumping with BITOFTHEBLARNEY(NZ). Raced wide without cover in the early stages before improving forward to obtain the lead passing the 800m.

SETTAT (NZ) – Trainer Maree Skillington advised Stewards that it would be the intention for SETTAT (NZ) to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit – ridden accordingly. Approaching the 800m, shifted out across the heels of SKILFUL ARTIST taking SMART MISSION wider.

GENERAL WOLFFE – Approaching the 1200m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SMART MISSION when the pace steadied.


RACE 4 – THE RJC SALUTE ROB CARR HANDICAP 1050M

DEHORNED UNICORN – Hung out rounding the home turn.

COCHRANE – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping.

KAI MONDO – Began awkwardly. When questioned on the effort of KAI MONDO which performed below market expectations, apprentice Nikki Olzard could offer no tangible explanation and added that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout and over the concluding stages, KAI MONDO felt awkward in its action which became more noticeable upon pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore fetlock. Trainer Tom Bourke was advised that KAI MONDO would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. A post-race sample was collected for analysis.

I AM VOODOO – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the final straight.

LONERGY – Slow to begin. Shifted to the inside of DEHORNED UNICORN to continue to improve.


RACE 5 – BRISBANE AIRPORT HOTELS GROUP BM65 HANDICAP 1200M

BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

UNDERRATED – Bumped on jumping and was taken in as a result. Raced keenly in the early stages.

WOLFGANG – Shifted in on jumping bumping UNDERRATED, which was taken in onto ICHIBERU, which was bumped.

BOLD ARTIC – Raced keenly in the early stages.

KING'S DUTY – KING’S DUTY was declared a late scratching at 3:37pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on KING’S DUTY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

1st WOLFGANG 12c win, 17c place
2nd DARTH INVADER 21c place
3rdUNDERRATED 6c place

Stewards heard submissions from trainer Kerrod Smyth regarding the action to be taken against KING’S DUTY for refusing to load. After considering the submissions, Stewards noted that a proper blindfold was not used, with a towel being substituted, and that the club had insufficient barrier attendants at today’s meeting, which impacted the loading process. Taking these factors into account, along with the fact that the gelding has not received any official warnings or embargoes for its loading behaviour since January 2023, Stewards determined that standing down the gelding was inappropriate. Instead, a warning was issued. Stewards also addressed club representatives, emphasising the importance of ensuring proper equipment is available behind the barriers in the future to prevent similar issues.

ICHIBERU – Bumped on jumping when UNDERRATED was taken in. Raced in restricted room shortly after the start.

OUTWITTED – Reared on jumping, losing ground.


RACE 6 – RENEW OR JOIN AS A RJC MEMBER 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1050M

NOBLE INTENT – Laid in under pressure in the final straight.

SNAZZY SNITZEL – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with SPITZBERG.

BOTTOM BAR – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m, resulting in rider Paul Hamblin having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

SPITZBERG – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with SNAZZY SNITZEL. Raced wide throughout. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m.

LADY CONSORT – Laid in under pressure through the early part of the home straight.

MAKING HISTORY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide with cover throughout.


RACE 7 – RTCQ BM58 HANDICAP 1400M

Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 1200m, which resulted in DIALIDAE (apprentice Chloe Lowe) clipping the heels of LAUNCH MODE (jockey Paul Hamblin). After taking evidence from both riders and reviewing the available race footage, it was established that DIALIDAE commenced to race ungenerously in the early stages and, whilst being restrained, shifted outwards as LAUNCH MODE shifted inwards marginally. As a result, DIALIDAE clipped the heels of LAUNCH MODE and blundered. After considering all the circumstances, Stewards were unable to attribute the incident to the actions of any one rider, and accordingly no further action was taken.

DIALIDAE – Bounded on jumping, unbalancing apprentice Chloe Lowe for a short distance. Bumped with LUXOR PRINCE shortly after the start. Commenced to overrace in the early stages and when being restrained, shifted outwards across the heels of LAUNCH MODE, when that runner shifted inwards marginally, and as a resulted clipped that runner’s heels and blundered. Raced wide with cover throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of DIALADAE, apprentice Chloe Low stated that her instructions were to attempt to obtain a leading position, however after being slow to begin, the filly was unable to do so. Apprentice Lowe added that shortly after the start, DIALIDAE commenced to race ungenerously which resulted in the filly having to race wide without cover after being restrained which in apprentice Lowe’s opinion proved detrimental to DIALIDAE’s performance today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

HOU LONG GWAI – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 450m.

NEXT LEGACY – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight before shifting to the outside of THE LAST SAGA leaving the 200m to obtain clear running.

SMASHING ROSIE – Briefly held up for clear running leaving the 400m.

SCRUFFY – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

REMEMBER THE BOYS – Raced wide with cover throughout. Inconvenienced leaving the 100m when THE LAST SAGA shifted out.

AZUKI – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KING OF THE VIBE when that runner put in an awkward stride.

KAYLEEN'S PROFIT (NZ) – Inconvenienced leaving the 100m when THE LAST SAGA shifted out.

LAUNCH MODE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

KING OF THE VIBE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m, put in an awkward stride and was steadied by its rider and whilst doing so, resulting in AZUKI racing onto heels and

THE LAST SAGA – Shifted out abruptly approaching the 100m inconveniencing REMEMBER THE BOYS and KAYLEEN'S PROFIT (NZ).

LUXOR PRINCE – Began awkwardly. Bumped with DIALIDAE shortly after the start. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 250m.
