Race 1 – BARRY RICHARDSON MAIDEN PLATE - 1000M:

GLORY ME – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

IRISH DARK – Bumped another runner at the start.

PUBLIC FORTUNE – Bumped another runner at the start. Rider reported at scale that his saddle slipped shortly after the start, which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

MADAM AUBERGE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Hung out throughout and raced in a four wide position until reaching a point near the 550m, raced in a three wide position with cover until entering the home straight. When questioned in regards to the riding tactics adopted on Madam Auberge, apprentice B. Newport stated that it was his intention after jumping well to obtain a forward position, however after not improving as anticipated, he elected to restrain the filly near the 600m to obtain cover. Apprentice B. Newport added that he advised connections that the horse may well be suited with a tongue-tie added to its current racing gear. Trainer S. Rodgers advised stewards that it would be his intention to add a tongue-tie to the filly’s current gear prior to its next start.


Race 2 – MCDONALDS ROMA QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1000M:

Stewards accepted the explanations in regards to the late rider declarations of Captain Spur (N. Morton) and Tell Me No Lies (C. Bryen).

TELL ME NO LIES – Slow to begin.

UNCHAINED – Raced wide throughout without cover.

BACK TO WHARTON – When questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey J. Rudd stated that it was his intention to obtain a forward position and after beginning well endeavored to obtain said position, however he was unable to with riders to his inside improving forward and as a result, settled back further than anticipated. He added that after pressuring the mare from the 800m it failed to respond to his riding and proved somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings.


Race 3 – MACCAS OPEN ALL WEEKEND BMK 60 HCP – 1640M:

ROYAL REWARD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

SHEZA ROUGHIE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

LAKE VICTORIA – Bumped another runner on jumping away. Forced wider on the track by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion and as a result the rider elected to improve to the leadind position at a point near the 1100m.

SIALIA MAGIC - Forced wider on the track by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion.

BLUE JEST - Over raced passing the winning post on the first occasion and had to be restrained from heels and shifted out wider on the track. Raced three wide without cover in the middle stages.

VIVE LE VENT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame. Trainer W. Baker was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Vive Le Vent being permitted to race again. Mr. Baker advised stewards that it would be his intention to retire the gelding.


Race 4 – MCDONALDS HEALTHY CHOICES CLASS B HCP – 1200M:

PHASE – Reared over and dislodged rider in preliminary, examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Trainer W. Baker was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.

OGGIE – Was slow to begin.

MIRFAK – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.


Race 5 – MCDONALDS MCCAFE BMK 70 HCP – 1200M:

UNSEEN – Began awkwardly.

LA CLOISONNE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
