GENERAL

As B. Richardson was stood down from riding at today’s meeting, rider changes were made as per the steward’s race day summary.

RACE 1: WILLIAMS HALL CHADWICK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether SIR CLISBY had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the head-on vision of the start, stewards found that the barrier of SIR CLISBY failed to open at the same time as the other barriers, resulting in the horse being denied a fair start. Acting under the provisions of AR. 134, stewards ordered that SIR CLISBY be declared a non-runner. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SIR CLISBY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the Win #12
8 cents in the dollar for place of winner #12
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #9

BUDDY ROCKS – Raced in a four wide position in the early and middle stages after being unable to cross from the outside barrier.

DESERT PLAYBOY – Hung out rounding the home turn.

FONDA DE LUCRE – Hung out rounding the home turn.

RACE 4: CARLTON MID OPEN HANDICAP – 1200M

Correct weight was delayed to afford L. Appo, rider of third place getter Brady “n” Me, the opportunity to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against first place getter Regal Prince for alleged interference near the 1000m. After viewing the available film, L. Appo decided against lodging an objection and correct weight was declared on the judges numbered semaphored.

VAN ROSSUM – Tightened for room between runners at the start and lost ground.

MONTANUS – Blundered on jumping away.

BRADY ‘N’ ME – Had to ease near the 1000m to avoid the heels of Regal Prince, which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. At a subsequent enquiry, apprentice N. Morton, the rider of Regal Prince was reprimanded.

CRAWFISH – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

App N. Morton was fined the sum of $100 for making a celebratory gesture on Regal Prince prior to the winning post.
