SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Stewards today inquired into the circumstances surrounding Jayce Buckley riding track work at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club when not the holder of an appropriate licence. It was established that after 31 July Mr Buckley had failed to renew his jockey’s licence in Western Australia and also failed to renew his visiting jockey’s licence with Racing Queensland. As a result of this, Mr Buckley pleaded guilty to a charge under LR. 7 in that he rode track work from 1 August at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club when not appropriately licensed and was fined the sum of $400
From SCTC Sunday 30.11.14 – Race 1: Trainer J. Zielke reported that SECOND TIME AROUND had pulled up shin sore following the event and will now be sent for a spell.
From Doomben Saturday 29.11.14 – Race 5: Trainer P. Duncan advised that on Monday, 1 December, ABADDON underwent an endoscopic examination which revealed signs of a respiratory infection for which the horse is now receiving treatment. Mr Duncan indicated that it is his intention to proceed with the gelding’s current preparation and was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse prior to it racing again.
Race 1: COASTLINE BMW RACING MINISTERS 2YO CLASSIC 17/1/15 F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
ANORO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
QUATTRO PASSI – When questioned regarding the overall performance and the riding tactics he adopted on QUATTRO PASSI, apprentice S. Payne explained that rather than be caught wide in the early stages, he elected to restrain from the barriers to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the rail. He added that QUATTRO PASSI raced greenly throughout the race and was inclined to hang out at various stages. He further stated that in the home straight he had some difficulty securing clear running and inside the final 200m he was obliged to alter course on 2 occasions to improve his position and over the concluding stages the mare again shifted out abruptly under pressure, however finished the race off strongly. Trainer B. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.
STEP THE PEDAL – Bumped at the start.
FASHION STAGE – Jumped away awkwardly.
PARTY TILL DAWN – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide throughout.
TEO’S BELLE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner.
MISS REMY – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for MISS REMY prior to its next start.
Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS C,G&E MAIDEN H'CAP - 1200
BOX ON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration inside the horse’s offside nostril.
DUNRUNIN – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted in the early stages, M. Cahill reported that he had no specific instructions and as DUNRUNIN did not begin well, he made the decision to restrain to the rear of the field in an attempt to obtain cover. He added that DUNRUNIN initially shifted out in the early part of the home straight, which resulted in him changing his whip to his left hand, and soon afterwards the horse shifted in when placed under pressure so over the concluding stages he elected to ride the horse in a hands and heels manner. Stewards noted his explanation.
EXCELLENT WINNER – Trainer D. Duryea was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s identification card.
WIGGLESWORTH – Had to be eased when tightened for room between runners approaching the 250m.
REAL TRICKY – Slow to begin.
Race 3: YALUMBA WINES QTIS 3YO BM70 H’CAP – 1200M
BASSILLIQUE – Permitted to race without nasal strip when that gear was unable to be fitted.
SPANISH SAGA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. When asked to explain the performance of SPANISH SAGA, G. Killen stated that the colt was not suited with the slow tempo in the early and middle stages when the race developed into a sprint home over the final 600m. Jockey Killen added that SPANISH SAGA will be better suited in longer races than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
LITTLE FIGHTER – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for failing to declare J. Byrne as the rider of LITTLE FIGHTER by the prescribed time.
SOMEDAYI’LLBELUCKY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.
Race 4: XXXX SUMMER LIME F&M CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M
HURRICANE CASSIE – Overraced in the early stages.
SHUKRIYA – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
MORE BEAUTIFUL – Slow to begin.
Race 5: BANK OF QUEENSLAND MOOLOOLABA CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
GREAT GAME – Apprentice M. McGuren was questioned regarding his riding of GREAT GAME, particularly his reason for failing to shift wider prior to SAMMI JAIN improving to his outside rounding the home turn, which resulted in him being held up for clear running until approaching the 200m. After taking evidence from apprentice McGuren in the presence of Jockeys Advocate Ms R. Mason, the inquiry was adjourned to enable stewards to interview trainer B. Currie and to obtain betting information on the race.
PURCHASED – Had some difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until approaching the 150m.
Race 6: COASTLINE BMW CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1800M
OUTRAGED – Forced wider approaching the 900m and was obliged to race three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
JETTING TO LONDON – Slow to begin.
ANGEL’S DESTINY – Had to be checked near the 1200m. J. Kokotajlo (RAIN ALERT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear and was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 3 December and expire at midnight on Sunday 14 December 2014.
LEICA PEGASUS – Slow to begin.
Race 7: CALOUNDRA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M
TWISTED MOUNTAIN – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey E. Wilkinson explained that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, racing three wide with cover, however when placed under pressure soon after straightening, commenced to weaken and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near foreleg and that the horse had lost its near fore plate.
ARGIE’S HEART – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden off the pace. The horse was ridden accordingly.
FATHER SHADY – Slow to begin.
BLACK ZERO – Raced three wide without cover.
GET ON DOWN – Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained to avoid heels near the 800m. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight until approaching the 150m.
BALINESE BOY – R. Fradd reported that approaching the 100m his mount shifted in away from another runner and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of GET ON DOWN.
JERROCITY – Slow to begin.
NADOR – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
L. Cassidy (VICTORIA NILE) was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
Race 8: SKY RACING C,G&E CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M
QUANDIALLA – Jumped very awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running in the home straight and as a result went to the line not fully tested by its rider.
OUR GARDY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
LEGAL COUNSEL – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
