GENERAL

As B. Stewart and J. Morris were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.



Race 1: Allchin Airconditioning & Refrigeration F&M Maiden H'cap – 1400m

After looking at the film following the race, L. Tarrant, rider of rider of the 3rd placegetter Cold Blooded, lodged a protest against Intronati being declared 2nd alleging interference from the 300m until passing the 200m. On the evidence, stewards were unable to be comfortably satisfied that Cold Blooded had established full and clear running to the inside of Intronati and despite L. Tarrant having to alter course after the 200m, they could not be comfortably satisfied that Cold Blooded had fully established itself into the run inside Intronati and therefore the protest was dismissed.

CLAIRE DELORES – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

CHASTE ANGEL - Became unbalanced when bumped heavily by Intronati near the 500m.


Race 2: Bolack Publication BM85 H'cap – 1400m

HLUDOWIG – Slow to begin.


Race 3: Scott McMahon Electrical BM70 H'cap – 2200m

TRY FOUR – Commenced to overrace near the 1800m and in doing so the saddle shifted forward, placing the jockey at a distinct disadvantage.

KESTHIN – Steadied when disappointed for clear running near the 500m. Rider L. Tarrant was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 4: McInnes Willson Lawyers QTIS 3yo F&M Plate – 1200m

The start of this race was delayed when Step Potential, which was kicked, and I LIKE CANDY, which reared over, both had to be examined by the veterinary surgeon before being permitted to start.

SAMARAH GIRL - After being boxed, became fractious very fractious in its stall dislodging its rider. The filly was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon before being declared fit to start. As a result of this, the race was delayed approximately 6 minutes. Trainer L. Gough was advised that a warning would be placed against its barrier manners.

DUCHESS MOLLY – Began very awkwardly.

SAMARAH GIRL – Steadied near the 900m when crowded for room.

CASINO MOON – Inconvenienced shortly after straightening.



Race 5: Ideal Lighting Showrooms C G&E Maiden H'cap – 1400m

EXCITEMENT LEVELS – Steadied when inconvenienced slightly near the 1000m and then overraced for some distance after this . Apprentice S. Fawke was questioned into the tactics adopted in the early stages. He said from the wide draw, and with the anticipated speed to its inside, he made the decision to restrain the horse at the start and try and cross to find a position midfield on the rail. He added that after beginning the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages and he got further back than he had anticipated, and down the back straight it began to travel strongly and overraced. He said his mount travelled nicely thereafter, and in the straight despite having an uninterrupted run, in his opinion it only finished the race off fairly, adding that he would recommend to connections it be stepped up in distance.

PIKETEO – A veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened badly from the 600m, found it to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer B. Gill advised it was his intention of connections to retire the horse. Regardless of this, stewards advised him that should the horse continue racing, a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required.


Race 6: Schultz Toomey O’Brien Lawyers Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

SCOTTY BE GOTTI – Stood awkwardly in the gates and then bounded and lost considerable ground. Lost its near hind plate near the 200m.

DETER – Dwelt and inconvenienced at the start.

THE CATHOLIC GIRL – Rider E. Wilkinson explained the horse was having its second start and when successful on debut it raced on a heavy track. He said today after beginning awkwardly the horse travelled in a forward position and was inclined lay out particular on the turns and despite being placed under pressure it did not stretch out and, in his opinion, may have felt the firm track conditions today.

DETER – Rider D. Browne stated that after beginning awkwardly and being hampered at the start he made the immediate decision to ride the horse rearward with cover despite his instructions to have the horse race in a handy position. He said after obtaining a nice position with cover in the early stages he became aware Narsons Duke had established a significant lead however because of the position he found himself in he was unable to improve. He said, in his opinion the tempo of the race was suitable but because of the position he was in he could do little about improving his spot. He said the 600m he commenced to improve and was confident his horse would be able to finish the race off nicely and finish in the placings.

NARSONS DUKE – Trainer D. Hansen explained that the horse has always raced well when fresh. He said at its previous start it had injured itself resulting in the horse having a significant spell. He said this time in he had not trialled the horse but rather preferred to race it fresh as its best performances have been when kept in this manner of training. He indicated in future he would endeavour to keep the horse fresh for its future starts. Mr Hansen’s explanation was noted.


Race 7: Bundilla Dry Cleaners Class 4 H'cap – 1200m

TWINZIG – Bounded at the start and lost ground.

EIGHT’S A PARTY – Crowded at the start. Rider T. Bell was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

FAST ARROW – Restrained shortly after the start and crossed to find a position near the rail. Steadied near the 800m when tightened for room. Steadied near 150m and obliged to alter course to continue improving. Rider K. Wharton reported at scale that in his opinion the horse felt lame in front. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ELITE ECHELON - Steadied near the 1100m when crowded for room.

RUBY SOHO – Rider L. Cassidy was reprimanded for shifting in near the 1100m, crowding another runner.

DIVINE SERVICE – Shifted in approaching the first turn when overracing badly and made contact with the running rail for a considerable distance.

BLACK POINT – Made contact with the rail nearing the first turn and became badly unbalanced.

FREEROCKER – Overraced near the 900m and had to be restrained from heels.

TWINZIG – Restrained from heels at the 900m.

TELEMORE – Shifted in near the 800m, causing a tightening to Fast Arrow. Rider B. Appo was reprimanded.



Race 8: Southeast Stainless Class 1 H'cap – 1600m

DELNIELLO – Slow to begin and then checked.

GODDESS OF LUCK – Crowded at start. Bumped near 200m by Serala.

SHADOW DOLL – Checked on straightening when disappointed for clear running.

SO QUICK – Inconvenienced at the winning post and blundered when striking heels. Apprentice S. Fawke (Shadow Doll was severely reprimanded for shifting out close to the winning post.

OLYMPIC QUEEN – Raced wide throughout.

THAT’S MAGIC – Raced wide throughout.
