GENERAL

As S. Galloway and M. McGuren were not riding at today’s meeting, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Ultiqua Resorts QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1000m

TIBROGARGAN MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

MONACO PLAYBOY – Tightened for room at the start.

SPLENDID STRYKER – Slow to begin and then raced awkwardly in the early stages, losing significant ground.

MISTRAL THIEF – Lost off fore plate in running.


Race 2: Ray White Commercial North Coast Central No Metro Wins H'cap – 1000m

HEART SMART – Began awkwardly.

STAY THE NIGHT – Slow to begin.

SINE TIMORE – Raced wide without cover.

FORETOKEN – Became awkward near the 150m after making contact with the running rail.

TOUCH ‘N’ GO – Jockey A. Coome indicated that the gelding was not comfortable at any stage on today’s rain affected track conditions and, in his opinion, this had an effect on the overall performance. Connections however indicated that it is now their intention to send the gelding for a spell. A post race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 3: Sunco Motors Maiden Plate – 1400m

RED ‘N’ BROWN – The start was delayed after the horse became fractious in the barriers. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon the horse was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Severely checked near the 900m and took no further competitive part in the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the inside of the off-side hock and abrasions to the head.

ZABEEL GLORY – Blundered on jumping away.

ATARATZI – Slow to begin.

HE’S DIFFERENT – Slow to begin. Overraced near the 1200m and inconvenienced when tightened for room between runners and as a result lost ground.

CHATEAUROUX – Buffetted by another runner and became unbalanced and had to be steadied near the 1200m.

NOOSA HEADS – Commenced to overrace approaching the 1200m and inconvenienced by another runner and shifted in, having to be checked. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

DREAMWARD BOUND – Shifted in and away when inconvenienced by another runner near the 1200m.

ZINGING – Shifted in, inconveniencing another runner near the 1200m. Rider G. Killen was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reasons for Eljetem (L. Dittman) and Atarartzi (R. McMahon) falling near the 900m and RED ‘N’ BROWN (J. Byrne) being severely interfered with after passing the 900m. Evidence was taken from apprentice B. Grylls, rider of Bowler Lane, jockey T. Harrison, rider of Noosa Heads, jockey K. Wharton, rider of Larebil, and jockey J. Byrne. The matter was adjourned to enable L. Dittman and R. McMahon, who were both injured as a result of the fall, to be present to give evidence.

LAREBIL – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

QABLA – Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 150m.

BOWLER LANE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 4: Centrury 21 Coastal Open H'cap – 1000m

The start of this race was rescheduled to 2.26 pm as a result of the fall in the previous race.

TRAIL BOSS – Bled from both nostrils during the race. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, the horse now will incur a lifetime bar from racing.

Race 5: Integrale Homes QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m

The start of this race was rescheduled to 3.04 pm as a result of the fall in the previous race. The start was further delayed when GHERARDINI and CHARCOAL MELODY broke through the barriers. Both horses were examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

GHERARDINI – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

HEART COMMAND – Tightened for room and had to be restrained near the 800m.

LADY JETSETTER – Commenced to lay in from the 850m despite the efforts of its rider, causing interference to runner to the inside.

ASHGROVIAN – Commenced to hang out from the 700m and near the 600m shifted out and had to be checked from heels before continuing to lay out for the remainder of the event.

KNIGHTWICK MANOR – Had to be steadied whilst hanging out when tightened for room near the 600m.

ROSELLA – Improved onto heels near the 500m and had to be checked before being held up momentarily held up rounding the home turn.


Race 6: Tint A Car Sunshine Coast Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1800m

The start of this race was rescheduled to 3.34 pm as a result of the fall in the previous race. The start was further delayed when EYE WINSOME had to be resaddled.

CRAMMING – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

SOVEREIGN SPIDER – Overraced for a short distance after the 1600m. Raced wide throughout.

BILLABONG BIRD – Raced wide in the early stages until the 1000m where it was permitted to stride forward to the lead. Inquiry into improved performance. Trainer G. Blades indicated at the horse’s most recent start the race was run at a very slow pace and developed into a sprint home which he believed did not suit the horse. He felt the mare benefitted from the step up in distance of today’s event and was more suited to being permitted to stride forward in the middle stages. The explanation was noted.

EYE WINSOME – Steadied near the 250m when tightened for room between runners.

CRUZ BY – Raced wide throughout.

NEXT ERA – Raced wide throughout.

HOW FAIRDINKUM – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

FRIGHTENING BOLT – Lost off fore plate in running.


Race 7: Caloundra Chamber of Commerce Sunshine Coast Cup H'cap – 1400m

HLUDOWIG – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 900m.

VANDALISED – Slow to begin.

PHELAN READY – Overraced after passing the 1100m when the pace slackened. Shifted wider near the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.

RIVA DE LAGO - Overraced after passing the 1100m when the pace slackened.

ANNA LIZZIE – Raced wide in the early stages.

HARADA BAY – Raced wide throughout.

STEEL ZIP – Raced wide throughout.


Race 8: Oaks Hotels & Resorts Class 6 Plate – 1400m

SIEGFRIED – Connections advise the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse raced accordingly.

MISS HUSSON – Slow to begin. Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m when inconvenienced by another runner and in order to secure clear running near the 100m was again obliged to alter course.

RUN ROYAL RUN – Slow to begin.

IMPERIL – When being steadied leaving the 1200m to avoid the heels of another runner made contact with the running rail.

DEVON – Raced wide for the majority

RENEWED VITALITY – Rider T. Wolfgram advised his instructions were to race in a forward position however not to bustle the horse early as it has a tendency to overrace, and after being caught wide early to the 800m he elected to maintain a position wide on the track for the remainder of the event. Stewards accepted the explanation.

GREAT GAME – Improved onto heels approaching the 200m, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and shift to the inside to secure clear running.
