GENERAL

18 horses out of the competition samples were taken on Friday 6 March 2015 from stables in the Sunshine Coast area.

Race 1: Past Roos Association QTIS 2YO H'Cap – 1200m

The start was delayed when ONE STANDOUT had to be resaddled.

SHOWDOWN WARRIOR – Clipped heels shortly after the start and blundered.

ONE STANDOUT – Jumped away awkwardly and hampered a number of runners to its outside. When asked to comment on the performance of the filly jockey R. Wiggins expressed his disappointment as the horse was given a favourable run just behind the lead and when afforded clear running did not respond as anticipated and over the final 200m became short in its action and weakened. Jockey Wiggins also indicated that at the horse’s most recent start it was able to obtain the lead easily and had a very soft run in front. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross will be interviewed in the coming days regarding the performance.

EQUAL LUCK – Hampered on jumping away.

MISHANI DI CAPRIO – Hampered on jumping away.

DRAM OF RED – Hampered on jumping away.
CRAIGLEA ALTISE – Made contact with another runner on jumping.

LIBELULA – Received contact from another runner on jumping.

MONTANA STAR – Overraced in the early stages.

Race 2: Devcon Building Class 6 SW Plate – 2200m

SUPERCOACH – Slow to begin.

TIPS ‘N’ TALES – Shortly after the start when restrained raced awkwardly for a short distance and lost ground. Raced wide from the 800m.

AY NO DIGAS – After passing the 1800m commenced to overrace and continued to do so until near the 1400m when shifted wider on the track to improve outside the lead.

SOMERSET LASS – Forced wider for a short distance passing the 1400m.

I’M HECTOR – Lost a near for plate in running.

BILLABONG BIRD – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3: HMR Projects Pty Ltd Benchmark 80 H'Cap – 1600m

RENEWED VITALITY – Connections advised the horse would be ridden more quietly today. The horse settled in a handy position behind the leader.

COSMONAUT – Connections advised the horse would be ridden just off the pace today.
The horse settled midfield.

MARKOUT – Raced wide from the 800m.

UNO FIVE – Had to be steadied near the 500m when tightened for room.

CASARATI – Held up rounding the home turn.

HARD TICKER – Approaching the 200m had to be checked away from the heels of a tiring runner.

CONGO – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that the gelding will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing.

CITATIONS – When questioned as to the performance of the gelding jockey M. Cahill stated that after pushing the horse along in the early stages to clear runners to its inside the gelding settled well outside the leader however, was under pressure prior to the home turn and was most disappointing.

Race 4: Creative Stone QTIS 3YO H'Cap – 1600m

As the start was effected only gates 1, 2 and 5 opened and the remainder of the gates opened shortly thereafter. As a result the starter declared a false start. All horses galloped for a short distance before being restrained by their riders. All horses were subsequently inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to run except for TALE OF FORTUNE which was found to have an elevated heart rate and was in a distressed state. TALE OF FORTUNE was declared a late scratching at 2.52 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on TALE OF FORTUNE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.52 p.m.:-

1 cent in the dollar for the winner - #6 (WHATALOVELYDAY)
2 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #6 (WHATALOVELYDAY)
2 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #10 (HENRYVONHUFEISEN)
2 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #5 (UMGENI)

The race was then rescheduled to start at 2.54 p.m. All barriers were checked prior to restarting.

HERRSCHAFT – Slow to begin.

GOTHIC MIGHT – Checked near the 1200m.

BENICO’S PRINCE – Tightened for room at the 1200m.

STROAK – Raced wide without cover throughout.

RABASCO – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

DIDDY WIN DIDDY – Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale that the gelding was not striding out in the straight. Vet inspection revealed the horse to be lame in both fore legs. Trainer P. Duff was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to the gelding racing again.

UMGENI –Shifted out near the 100m and made contact with another runner. Lost a near fore plate in running.

HENRYVONHUFEISEN – Became unbalanced near the 100m when contacted by another runner.

POLYNIKES – When asked to comment on the performance App J. Johnson stated that in her view the horse was left flatfooted when the field sprinted near the 400m and did not respond to her riding in the straight. Trainer B. Guy indicated that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

App T. Wolfgram the rider of SEASHELLS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he directed his mount to shift in near the 1200m tightening the running of GOTHIC MIGHT and BENICO’S PRINCE, resulting in GOTHIC MIGHT having to be checked. In assessing penalty stewards took into account that when App Wolfgram attempted to relieve the tightening to the runners to his inside he was prevented from doing so by RABASCO which was racing forward of him and easing. App Wolfgram’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 15 March 2015 and expire midnight 25 March 2015.

Race 5: Alex Surf Club Fillies & Mares NMW SC – 1400m

The start of this race was rescheduled to start at 3.33 p.m.

EVERYBODY HAPPY – App S. Fawke reported at scale that he was unable to restrain his mount after passing the 800m.

MOONLIGHT NOVA – Lost an off hind plate in running.

ITCHINTOWIN – Rider questioned regarding performance. Jockey J. Byrne stated that after having a favourable run throughout the mare failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 400m and proved disappointing.

Race 6: Hot 91.1 Class 6 WR 1kg H'Cap – 1200m

HEART OF MANY – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage.

Race 8: RCQ Construction Colts, Geldings & Entires NMW SC H'Cap – 1400m

Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. Byrne the rider of SIEGFRIED which finished 6th against SENGLEA SUN (B. El-Issa) being declared 3rd on the grounds of alleged interference after leaving the 300m. Stewards after considering the evidence found that SENGLEA SUN shifted out under pressure forcing SIEGFRIED wider on the track and making heavy contact with that runner after leaving the 200m. As stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered was sufficient to reverse the ¾ length margin between the two runners at the end of the race the objection was upheld and the placings amended to read:-

1st LOYALIST
2nd FELTRE
3rd CASINO BENJO
4th ALL THINGS IN TIME
5th SIEGFRIED
6th SENGLEA SUN

A post race veterinary examination of SENGLEA SUN revealed the gelding to be sore in both front fetlocks. Trainer A. Willick advised that SENGLEA SUN will now be sent for a spell. Ms Willick was advised that the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial and a veterinary report on treatment undertaken and a certificate of fitness must be produced prior to it racing again.

CALL ME RUSTY – Near the 800m had to be steadied when tightened for room.

KINGTANTES – Near the 800m had to be steadied to avoid heels and shifted wider on the track.
