Race 1: SUNSHINE COAST UNIVERSITY PRIVATE HOSPITAL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M

OCCASION – Slowly into stride.

BIT OF A HERO – Rider was obliged to stop riding and alter course when disappointed for a run near 100m.

JO’S LUCK – Lost a near fore plate in running.

SINE TIMORE - Trainer R. Wilson was questioned regarding the tactics adopted as the horse led in today’s event, which is in contrast to the horse’s most recent racing pattern. Mr Wilson indicated that this was the horse’s first start over more than a 1000m this preparation and as there was a lack of pace in the event and as the horse has had a tendency to be slow to begin at its most recent starts, he instructed App Elbeck to be aggressive in the early stages however, did not instruct her to necessarily lead the event. Stewards reprimanded Mr Wilson and advised him that in similar circumstances he would be expected to approach stewards with instructions of this nature.


Race 2: CALOUNDRA RSL MAIDEN H’CAP (1) – 1400M

HIGH SHADY – Connections advised the horse would be ridden in the forward half of the field today if circumstances permit. The horse was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside and therefore had to be steadied leaving the 1200m and to secure a position closer to the fence took up a position at the tail of the field. Shifted wider at the 700m and made the home turn extremely wide.

ATARARTZI – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1100m and overraced until leaving the 800m. Rider dropped his whip near the 100m. Rider reported that the horse travelled well until entering the home straight and then did not respond as anticipated when placed under pressure.

MASTER CAT - Had to be steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 1100m and overraced until the 500m. When entering the home straight was inconvenienced when disappointed for a run and had to be steadied.

HAVEN DUKE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: CALOUNDRA RSL MAIDEN H’CAP (2) – 1400M

SCILLION – Significantly slow to begin.

INTREPID GREY – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which raced wide from the 700m and finished a distant last, revealed no abnormalities.

THOU ART – Rider reported at scale that his mount raced greenly and was climbing in its action in the early and middle stages and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight.

Race 4: AUSCREDITS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN SW PLATE – 1000M

TYPING – Due to a misunderstanding S. Galloway was dually engaged in this event. Stewards permitted T. Treichel to be substituted as the rider.

FIGLIA VELOCE – Significantly slow to begin and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to the next start.

LOFN – After travelling a short distance raced very ungenerously and was retired from the event. Connections were advised that the filly must compete in an official trial prior to racing again.

TRUE SAGA – Inconvenienced by another runner rounding the home turn.

CHARCUTERIE – Shortly after entering the home straight was obliged to alter course when disappointed for a run.

CLOUT – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages.

BANDA SPICE – Shied away from the winning post over the concluding stages.

WONDERFUL TALE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

SAYS ME - Raced wide without cover throughout.

HONEY HONEY - Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 5: BLACK CAT CIVIL MAIDEN SW PLATE – 1000M

BRIALKA LODGE was withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 3.43 p.m. after the gelding blundered on the way to the barriers and was found to be lame in the off fore leg. All monies invested on BRIALKA LODGE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.43 p.m.:-

0 cents in the dollar for the winner - #10 (AD MAIORA SEMPER)
2 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #10 (AD MAIORA SEMPER)
3 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #1 (DEEKS)
1 cent in the dollar for the 3rd place - #12 (LADY DENMAN)

GAYLEN – Jumped away awkwardly.

UNIQUE FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly. Commenced to hang out passing the 700m.

CORONATION JOURNEY – Shifted in near the 600m making heavy contact with the running rail.

AD MAIORA SEMPER – Held up rounding the home turn.

JE SUIS PRIEST – Raced wide throughout.

MISS BEHAVEN – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: VARIETY QUEENSLAND CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1600M

GLACIER EXPRESS - Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100.00 for failing to declare L. Rolls as the rider by the prescribed time.

APEGASUS – Raced wide until the 900m. App K. Stanley was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner in the home straight.

ALWAYS A GIBBERER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SPEED TO BERN – Inconvenienced when placed in restricted room after passing the 200m.

FATBILL – App S. Payne was severely reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on a horse out of contention over the concluding stages.

NIK NIK – Raced wide throughout.


Race 7: HIGH GEAR FITNESS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when FELINE MISS broke through the barriers and after travelling a short distance was restrained, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its part in the field.

WEWONYA – Slow to begin. Obliged to race in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 700m.
CLASSIC ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Overraced throughout the event and had to be checked from heels near the 1000m and again near the 700m.

SAMBUCA SHOT – After passing the 900m commenced to hang out and did so until entering the home straight.

SUZY’S BOY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and into the early stages of the home straight.

STAR LADY – Raced wide without cover throughout.

WICKED TEMPTATION – Laid in under pressure after passing the 400m and had to be steadied from heels near the 200m. Difficulty securing clear running passing the 200m and the rider was obliged to stop riding and alter course.

KURKOVA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance App Allen indicated that the tempo of the race in the early stages had an affect on the horse’s finishing effort.
