SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From SCTC, 30.1.15 – Race 4

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons for Friars Folly falling during the above event. After taking evidence from B. Appo, rider of Friars Folly, A. Taylor, rider of Our Lilly rose, and apprentice S. Fawke, rider of Miss Charisma, and viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, stewards were of the opinion that Our Lilly Rose shifted out slightly and jockey Taylor stopped riding and straightened, however this shift placed Friar’s Folly, which was improving to the outside, into a position on the heels of Our Lilly Rose. Shortly afterwards Miss Charisma shifted in under pressure, further hampering Friar’s Folly, and causing that horse to be unable to shift out away from the heels of Our Lilly Rose, and as a result Friar’s Folly clipped the heels of Our Lilly Rose, causing apprentice Appo to be dislodged. In all the circumstances stewards believed that A. Taylor, in stopping riding and straightening, had demonstrated necessary care for her fellow riders, and whilst S. Fawke had failed to stop riding they could not, given the shift from Our Lilly Rose, hold him responsible for the interference and therefore took no action.

Kemp advised he would have his veterinary surgeon examine the horse and undertook to report any findings to stewards.
