General

Apprentice S. Fawke was reprimanded for failing to attend Apprentice School at Deagon on Monday, 7 December.

Apprentice A. Van Der Sanden was stood down from race riding for 7 days for failing to attend Apprentice School on 7 December. In issuing this penalty stewards were mindful Miss Vandersanden had previously not attended Apprentice School.

Apprentice L. Tarrant was fined the sum of $100 for failing to comply with an official direction in that he was observed using an earphone whilst mounted during track work.

Stablehand Miss T. Mathieson was fined $200 for failing to wear safety gear (vest and helmet) whilst riding a racehorse at Nudgee Beach on 4 December.

Race 1: Henzells Agency Maiden H'cap – 1000m

BELLA SASH – Declared a late scratching at 4.20 pm on veterinary advice.

JERUSALEM – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be checked to avoid heels approaching the 500m. Had to be steadied near the 400m to avoid heels. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Geran indicated that the horse was unable to muster any early speed and then raced greenly and was obliged to steady from heels during the middle stages, and was then doing its best work over the concluding stages after obtaining clear running. Jockey G. Geran was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

CARRY ON JAKE – Slow to begin.

MARGUERITA EXPRESS – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied away from the heels of another runner near the 550m.

MIGHTY TAX – Raced greenly when racing wide without cover, and near the 600m shifted in, tightening runners to its inside. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.

LORD JUSTICE – Tightened for room at the 600m and lost ground.

HIT HIM AGAIN – Tightened for room at the 600m.

WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Shifted out abruptly to avoid heels at the 500m.

RAPID BOY – Raced wide without cover.


Race 2: Pelican Waters QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1400m

The start of this race was brought forward due to lightning in the vicinity of the track.

TAHITIAN FLYER – Slow to begin.

CUTTING JET – Hung out after leaving the 800m and continued to do so until near the entrance to the straight. A post race veterinary examination Failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 3: Henzells Commercial Maiden H'cap – 1400m

Race 3 was delayed and rescheduled to 8.08 pm, Race 4 – 8.38 pm, Race 5 – 9.08 pm, Race 6 – 9.40 pm, Race 7 – 10.10 pm.

ITARA – Slow to begin.

BROCSON – Slow to begin. Apprentice S. Fawke was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m and using his whip in consecutive strides.

FLANDERS FIELDS – Slow to begin.

LAREBIL – Got its head up near the 800m when being restrained. Tightened for room near the 500m between runners and had to be steadied.

MY VICTORY – Commenced to lose ground after leaving the 800m and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer P. Evans was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

SPARKLING TIARA – Obliged to alter course approaching the 500m to avoid a tiring runner.

EL JADIDA – Struck the heels of a tiring runner and blundered near the 500m.

KING OF THE CASTLE - Raced wide without cover.

PORTSEA – Raced wide without cover.

ANDREA GAIL – Following the disappointing performance connections were advised that the mare’s nomination would be refused at TAB meetings until its form improves at country venues. Trainer S. Barling indicated the horse would now be retired from racing.


Race 4: Henzells Property Management Class 2 H'cap – 1400m

SEA CRUISE – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of T. Harrison as the rider of the mare.

PERCY ON PARADE – Slow to begin. Jockey G. Goold reported his mount hung out throughout the race and shifted extremely wide in the home straight.

ATARARTZI – Slow to begin.

ABLE BOY – Slow to begin.

EYE OF HORUS – Overraced in the early stages. Inclined to lay out from the 600m to the home turn and then shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

FLYING SAND – Overraced in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to the lead near the 900m.


Race 5: Henzells Pelican Waters Foundation Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1200m

The start was delayed when ABADDON and TELMEMORE required farrier attention.

SAMBUCA SHOT – After being slow to begin was bumped by another runner. Bumped at the 900m.

COLOUR CHANGE – Slow to begin.

MYWAYORTHEHIGHWAY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in and bumped another runner.

SPUR LE JOUER – Bumped on jumping away.

CHALUPA – Knuckled on jumping away and shifted in and made contact with another runner.

TERMS OF TRADE – Shifted in and bumped another runner near the 900m.

FAST ARROW – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight and near the 200m brushed the hind quarters of another runner and then was tightened for room and had to be checked.

TELL ME MORE – Apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount hung out throughout the race.


Race 6: Waterside Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

WEWONYA – Slow to begin.

SHE’S WORTHY – Jumped away awkwardly.

DEEKS – Jumped away awkwardly, resulting in jockey D. Browne becoming unbalanced.

KIRSTEN COVE – Hung out in the middle stages.

APEGASUS – Taken back towards the inside rail by another runner near the 200m.

HOLMGANG – Shifted in under pressure near the 200m.



Race 7: Henzells Agency Sales Class 1 H'cap – 1600m

BLACK SALT – Slow to begin.

ELIZABETH’S DREAM – Brushed the running rail near the 900m.

BLAZING INFERNO – Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell dropped his whip near the 100m.

ASYOUDO – Apprentice T. Brooker was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
