SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
Trainer Olivia Cairns was reprimanded pursuant to LR 68 for failing to scratch emergencies, GAIRLOCH and WHISKEY GLASSES by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer Nick Keal was fined the sum of $100 pursuant to LR67 for failing to declare a rider RADEGAST by the prescribed time.

Race 1: FTA ACCOUNTANTS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE     1000 M

The start of this race was delayed when PIERTAGA proved difficult to load and further delayed when TOI TOI became fractious in the barriers before being examined by the vet and cleared to start.
 
BE AN ANGEL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CALL TO COURAGE – Shifted in abruptly near the 100m despite the efforts of its rider and bumped heavily with TOI TOI, which shifted out.
 
CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE – Shifted out to avoid the heels of HEART ‘N’ POWER near the 200m
 
CHAMPAGNE LANE – Slow to begin. Laid in throughout the event
 
HEART 'N' POWER – Hung out when rounding the home turn and under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m when not clear of CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE.
 
TOI TOI – Shifted out and bumped heavily near the 100m when CALL TO COURAGE shifted in abruptly.
 
PIERTAGA – Near the 200m, obliged to check from the heels of CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE, when that horse shifted out to avoid heels. Jockey D McGillivray, the rider of HEART ‘N’ POWER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 200m, whilst placing pressure on HEART ‘N’ POWER, he failed to stop riding and straighten his mount when it commenced to shift out when insufficiently clear of CARAMELFUDGESUNDAE, forcing that horse to shift out to avoid heels causing PIERTAGA, which was racing to the outside to be checked and forced wider. Jockey McGillivray’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11days commencing midnight 1/6/25 and to conclude midnight 12/6/25.
 
 
Race 2: BETA WELLNESS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE     1000 M

ATLANTIC COAST – As J Bayliss was indisposed he was subsequently replaced by C Collis
 
BENT BRIDGE – Raced wide throughout.
 
FIRST EMPIRE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
JAGGERY – Lunged at the barriers as the start was affected and lost ground as a result. Raced greenly and was inclined to lay out when passing the 600m.
 
KIMURA LOCK – Raced wide throughout.
 
WINDSOR ROAD – Slow to begin.
 
OMPHALOS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C Graham was asked to comment on the performance and advised stewards that whilst she was disappointed with the performance she could offer no explanation. Post race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
PRIDE OF NASHVILLE – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: CHOMLEY FAMILY LAW MAIDEN PLATE         1200 M

BIT OF GRUNT – Over-raced for a short distance leave the 900m. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROCKETTO – Slow to begin.
 
TELL NO GOSSIP – Became fractious after leaving the enclosure, reared, dislodged B Wheeler, made contact with the fence prior to the event and was examined by the vet before being cleared to start. Slow to begin. B Wheeler advised stewards that in his opinion the poor performance could be attributed to the horse’s poor pre-race manners. Post race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
Race 4: SUNSHINE MITRE 10 QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP    1600 M

TOREADOR – Rider D Thornton reported that his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise during the event and did not handle the rain affected conditions. Near the 350, was hampered when PEAR BELLINI shifted in, K Wilson-Taylor the rider of PEAR BELLINI was advised to exercise more care. Post-race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
A BIT DUSTY – Raced wide during the early stages. Laid out from the home turn. Shifted out near the 150m to secure clear running and bumped STROMBOLI DELIGHT.
 
HEYHEY IT'S JAYJAY – Slow to begin.

STROMBOLI DELIGHT – Bumped near the 150m when A BIT DUSTY shifted out. Raced wide throughout.
 
ZOUBLIME – Over-raced during the early and middle stages and was checked from heels near the 1200m.
 
PEE BEE NOIR – Began awkwardly.
 
SHUBMAN – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: OPPOSITE LOCK CALOUNDRA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1800 M

WANDA'S OUTLAW – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
KIND WISH (NZ) – After bumping a post in the enclosure was examined by the vet at the barriers and cleared to start. Shifted in near the 900m and made contact with the running rail.
 
HAMILTON BROWN – A Mallyon reported that in his opinion his mount did not run out a strong 1800m in todays heavy track conditions.
 
HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin.
 
WHISKY TRAIN (NZ) – Held up for clear running between the 600m and 400m.

Race 6: BEKO OPEN HANDICAP 1300 M

WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – B Wheeler for fined the sum of $300 under AR 211(1) in that he returned to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight.
 
TONNEOFGRIT – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the middle stages and steadied from heels near the 600m.
 
CRAZY TRAIN – When asked to comment on the performance R Stewart reported that his mount compounded quickly in the home straight, however, could offer not explanation. Trainer M Dunn was disappointed with the performance and would report back to stewards should something come to light in the coming days. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Lost the off fore plate in running.

Race 7: QEBS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1000 M

HIDDEN NUGGET – Held up from the 200m onwards behind the tiring BONFIRE SPARK and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
JOPPA LANE – Slow to begin.
 
TERRITORY ASH – Began awkwardly and bumped with BELLE AFFAIR.
 
ACCELAR – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels approaching the 400m.
 
BELLE AFFAIR – Began awkwardly and bumped with TERRITORY ASH.
 
THE SUN DANCE – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 500m. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 

Race 8: DALL DESIGNER HOMES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP         1000 M

MASTERPLAN – Steadied near the 700m to avoid the heels of IRISH THUNDER. Checked from the heels of IRISH THUNDER near the 600m and lost significant ground.
 
BOLD AND SMOOTH – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
BREAK FREE – Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room to the inside of BEACHSIDE BABE, which shifted in. G Cartwight, the rider of BEACHSIDE BABE, was reprimanded for this incident. Forced to shift in near the 700m to avoid the heels of FIREFORCE, which shifted in. C Graham, the rider of FIREFORCE, was reprimanded for this incident. Laid in and away from FIREFORCE near the 600m tightening the running of IRISH THUNDER causing that horse to be checked. Lost both hind plates in running.
 
IRISH THUNDER – Raced in restricted room when leaving the 900m. Forced to shift in near the 700m when BREAK FREE was taken in by FIREFORCE. Checked near the 600m and lost significant ground when BREAK FREE laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
