GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 3. S. Cormack +1kg
 
Trainer P. Bobic was fined $200 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch HORSBURGH by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch a dual acceptor (MISS MERCY) by the prescribed time.


Race 1: TIARO MEATS & BACON QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP    1000 Metres

JAGGERY – Near the 800m, raced greenly for a short distance.
 
HELLUVAPUNCH – Raced wide throughout.
 
MILDURA LAD – Slow to begin.
 
VAREJAO – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the 200m.
 
STEFFI ELECTRICA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
CRYPTIC BEAUTY – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI SENORITA – Near the 100m, obliged to steady when I’LLTELLYOUTONIGHT shifted out when racing greenly.
 
UNCLOTHED – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
UNFAITHFUL – Raced wide throughout. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight until approaching the 100m.
 
VEGA NOVA – Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, when tiring, checked from the heels of SPECIAL ARTIST (J. Lloyd) which shifted out. Jockey J. Lloyd, as the rider of SPECIAL ARTIST, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 200m, whilst riding his mount along made insufficient effort to prevent mount from shifting out and into the rightful running of VEGA NOVA obliging that runner to check to avoid heels.  Jockey Lloyd’s license to ride in races was suspended for 11 days commencing midnight the 21st of June 2025 and ending midnight the 2nd of July 2025.
 
CASTIGLIONE – Stewards noted the circumstances regarding the late alteration of rider. Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m.  
 

Race 2: KAL'S CONSTRUCTION FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP          1400 Metres

SKIEDA – Tired over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a poor recovery and mild thumps.
 
LADY THINKABELL – Slow to begin.
 
TOP LEVEL – Slow to begin then bumped and lost ground.
 
CAESAR CAKE – Slow to begin. Near the 800m, momentarily raced in restricted room. Near the 250m, bumped with TOP LEVEL when attempting to shift out.
 
PEAK MISS – Bumped rounding the home turn and the early part of the home straight.
 
MY MISCHKA – Began awkwardly.
 
TWIN ISLAND (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Bumped rounding the home turn and the early part of the home straight.
 
SHAMIELA – Bumped on jumping.
 
Following the running of race 2, the track was upgraded to a Good (4).
 
 
Race 3: BUNDY CHOP SHOP COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP         1400 Metres

GOLDEN CROSS – Raced wide throughout.
 
KALAMIA KING – Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
 
LAW MARSHAL – Near the 200m, became awkward on the heels of BERTUS when LET IT SNOW shifted in. Jockey J. Lloyd, rider of LET IT SNOW, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
IHAVESEENTHELIGHT – Momentarily raced in restricted room and was steadied when MOONLIGHT KICKS shifted out and away from KALAMIA KING which shifted out abruptly. D. McGillivray, rider of KALAMIA KING, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
MELTDOWN – Raced wide throughout. Near the 1200m, obliged to steady from the heels of MOONLIGHT KICKS which was racing ungenerously.
 
SIX OF WANDS – Raced wide throughout.
 
LORD DANILO – Very slow to begin. Trainer J. Johnston was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
MOONLIGHT KICKS – Near the 1200m, raced greenly with its head in the air and was inclined to lay in. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Underwent a pre race veterinary inspection after becoming fractious in the barriers and was cleared to start. Obliged to alter course near the 250m to obtain clear running.
 
 

Race 4: SCANLANS ENGINEERING BUNDABERG OPEN HANDICAP          1400 Metres

WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – Underwent a post race veterinary examination after beginning awkwardly which revealed a small abrasion to the inside of the gelding’s mouth.
 
ROLL UP – Near the 400m commenced to lay in before being corrected by its rider. Tired in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that ROLL UP will require a veterinary clearance including an ECG, prior to a 1000m gallop before racing again.
 
TONNEOFGRIT – When asked to comment regarding the tactics adopted, apprentice R. Thorburn noted that no specific instructions were issued for the gelding. He further added that after beginning on terms with the field he allowed his mount to stride forward before reaching the leading near the 1000m.
 
BAK DA MAN (NZ) – Near the 500m, became momentarily awkwardly placed on the heels of COIN TOSS which commenced to tire.
 
 

Race 5: OLD SKOOL MACK PARTS CLASS 2 HANDICAP             1800 Metres
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow jockey N. Tomizawa, rider of second placegetter JUNE, to view the footage over the concluding stages. After viewing the footage, rider Tomizawa elected not proceed with any objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.

SAN JOSE BOY – Near the 1400m, commenced to over race and was steadied from heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
SUNNY DISPOSITION – Checked near the 200m. Jockey N. Beriman, rider of BOLD TYRANT, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a), in that when being ridden along, jockey Beriman made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting out and into the rightful running of SUNNY DISPOSITION (B. Wheeler) causing that runner to be checked to avoid heels. Jockey Beriman’s license to ride in races was suspended for 10 days commencing at midnight the 15th of June 2025 until midnight the 25th of June 2025.
 
TRUMP CARD (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRETTY RHO – Jockey J. Murphy reported that in his opinion, the mare was disappointing and may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
YOU AND I (NZ) – Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages.
 
 

Race 6: JOE ROLL MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP    1000 Metres

GIN A TONIC – Raced wide throughout.
 
HIDDEN NUGGET – Leaving the 100m, brushed with HEART AND SPIRIT which laid out.
 
HEART AND SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Laid out near the 100m.  
 
THE SUN DANCE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
ACCELAR – Raced wide throughout. Near the 150m, when tiring, laid in slightly as HIDDEN NUGGET shifted out slightly and was steadied.
 
BELLE AFFAIR – Slow to begin.
 

Race 7: BEETLE COLLINS CHARLEVILLE MEMORIAL FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1200 Metres

FREELAND – Began awkwardly.
 
NIGHTCAPPED – Change of tactics – will attempt to lead. Settled on pace. Shifted out on jumping. Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 900m. Apprentice C. Sutherland, rider of CHALICE WELL, was advised to exercise further care when crossing to lead.
 
CHALICE WELL – Hampered on jumping.
 
LONDON POINT (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MISS MERCY – A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TOROS – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BLAKEMORE AVENUE – Very slow to begin. Jockey D. Thornton reported that the filly was obliged to settle further back than intended and failed to travel throughout.
 

Race 8: CARNEY'S FEEDSTORES GYMPIE & MURGON COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP           1200 Metres

THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Improved onto heels approaching the winning post.
 
ENCOURAGED – Raced wide throughout.
 
TRISKELION (NZ) – Change of tactics – Connections advised may attempt to settle further forward. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BOLD JULIUS – Change of tactics – will attempt to lead. Settled outside the leader.
 
RYLOV – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BONJOUR RUPERT – Raced wide throughout.
 
WORTHY ESSGEE – Slow to begin. Apprentice O. Kendal was reminded of her obligations in regards to her whip use when her mount is out of contention.
 
WHISKEY AND BEER – Raced wide throughout.
 
NOBLE INTENT – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced keenly during the early stages when attempting to restrain for a position.
 
SET ABLAZE – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Kennedy was reminded of her obligations in regards to her whip use when her mount is out of contention.
