RACE 1: CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BONDED AFFAIR – Over raced when the pace slackened approaching the 800m and had to be checked from the heels of MR VERSE approaching the 700m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
KEEP SAFE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room passing the 500m.
RUNWITHTHETIDE – Raced wide throughout.
LION CLASS – Raced wide throughout.
PIVOTAL LAD – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure from the 400m.
HOOT 'N' HOLLER – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that HOOT’N’HOLLER would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
EYE PEA OH (NZ) – Slow to begin.
BRIGHT BLONDE – Over raced for the majority.
RACE 2: SHERRIN RENTALS PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS SERIES (FINAL) BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BEWS – Began awkwardly and bumped.
SAILOR'S SECRET – Raced wide from the 700m.
CASPERNOVA – Began awkwardly.
LIBERTY STEPS – Hampered between runners on jumping.
SHAPIN POWER – Raced wide throughout.
SULTRY SIREN – Raced wide throughout.
Following the running of this race, jockey R. Maloney was stood down by the club Doctor due to a lower back injury.
RACE 3: ACCESS INSULATION BRUCE MCLACHLAN CLASSIC QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 Metres
CERTIFIED COPY – Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m.
PRETTY DUBIOUS – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice B. Wheeler reported that the gelding was disappointing, stating that PRETTY DUBIOUS travelled well during the early stages, and failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
EARN TO BURN – Raced wide throughout.
JAGGERY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
PRESTAR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Rider A. Morgan reported that it was his intention to race in a more prominent position, however after beginning awkwardly from the wide gate was obliged to settle further back.
FORMULA ROSSA – Began awkwardly, hampered and lost ground.
FINANCIALLY FAMOUS – Approaching the 300m had to be steadied to avoid heels of GOLDARNIE which shifted out. T. Marshall, rider of GOLDARNIE, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).
LUCKY LASS – Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m, and lost ground when FINANCIALLY FAMOUS shifted in. Jockey R. Dolan, rider of FINANCIALLY FAMOUS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
GOLDARNIE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m.
UNFAITHFUL – Bumped with EARN TO BURN approaching the 800m and became unbalanced.
RACE 4: DR BERNIE SPILSBURY 3YO HANDICAP 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed 3 minutes when MISHANI LILY became cast in the barriers and scratched on veterinary advice at 2.08pm. OBLIGATED and ADMITTED which were drawn alongside MISHANI LILY were also removed, vet checked and cleared to start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on MISHANI LILY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st OVERFULL 2c win, 3c place
2nd CHARMING NIC 4c place
3rd BENZOU 4c place
Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised that MISHANI LILY would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
BELEGATO (NZ) – Jag GC – Raced wide throughout.
OBLIGATED – Sewell – Inconvenienced near the 300m when CHARMING NIC shifted in to secure clear running.
HEART AND SPIRIT – Wheeler – Slow to begin.
CHARMING NIC – Morgan – Raced wide throughout.
BONFIRE SPARK – Stewards accepted trainer O. Cairns explanation for the late declaration of rider.
BENZOU – Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn.
JUST PRECIOUS – Slow to begin. Near the 700m, checked when tightened for room by of HOFFMAN which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey T. Brooker, the rider of HOFFMAN, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) and her license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days commencing midnight 13th of July 2025 to be served concurrently with a subsequent suspension received in race 7.
ADMITTED – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 500m, between LEAD ME ON and GIN A TONIC, which shifted out. K Wilson-Taylor, the rider of GIN A TONIC, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a).
HOFFMAN – Rider T. Brooker was fined $200 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
RACE 5: KEVLACAT POWER BOATS OPEN PLATE 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed when ECONOMICS became fractious in the barriers, was removed, underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. ALL THAT PIZAZZ and VODKA MARTINI which were drawn alongside were also removed, vetted and cleared to start.
VODKA MARTINI – Raced wide throughout.
NETTUNO – Began awkwardly.
ALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Began awkwardly.
MILLANE – Began awkwardly.
HARDWARE LANE – Due to trainer J. Smerdon not declaring an overweight request by the prescribed time, jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was replaced by jockey L. Tarrant. No action was taken against jockey Guthmann-Chester. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Smerdon was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
ECONOMICS – Began awkwardly.
CHAKRA BOY – Began awkwardly.
ZOUPERB – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
RACE 6: DOUBLE R GROUP WINX GUINEAS 1600 Metres
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Slow to begin. After being held up rounding the home turn, improved onto heels approaching the 350m and had to be steadied.
MISTER BIANCO – Following the running of Race 4 P Shailler, the trainer of MISTER BIANCO, approached stewards to make application for MISTER BIANCO to be scratched, as rider R Maloney had been stood down due to injury and after conferring with the owners of MISTER BIANCO, he was not satisfied that a suitable rider was available. Stewards acceded to this request and declared MISTER BIANCO a late scratching at 2:22pm.
APUNTAR – Caught wide during the early stages before being ridden forward when passing the 1300m, to obtain a more forward position and settle outside the lead passing the 800m.
THE THREE HUNDRED – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in leading today’s event, rider A. Jones stated that her instructions were to ride the horse in a forward position as this had been the instructions at the gelding’s most recent starts, however over shorter distances, it had been unable to do so after being slow to begin. She added that over the more favourable distance of 1600m today, THE THREE HUNDRED was able to find the lead more easily. Stewards noted Ms Jones’ comments
ITALIAN RIVIERA – Raced wide throughout.
BARBRAY - Trainer C. Waller was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
MOON SWEEPER – Over raced during the early stages. Continued to over race when restrained to obtain cover during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cast the near hind plate and sustained a minor laceration to the near hind heel bulb.
NOIRE EMPEROR – Placed in restricted room near the 900m to the inside of ITALIAN RIVIERA and ridden vigorously at that point in order to hold its position. Held up and unable to improve passing the 600m.
MILLIE DE LUNE – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A. Morgan reported that the filly was back in distance today from 1800m and could not muster speed during the early stages. He added that in his opinion, MILLIE DE LUNE had come to the end of its preparation.
BOLLINGER MISS – Slow to begin.
EASY LOVE – Raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: TAB GLASSHOUSE HANDICAP 1400 Metres
FAR TOO EASY – Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Morgan reported that the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action in the home straight and he therefore elected to ease FAR TOO EASY in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. McColm reported that FAR TOO EASY would now be sent for a spell. Mr McColm was advised that FAR TOO EASY would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
OUGHTON – Held up for clear running from approaching the 400m prior to shifting back to the inside at the 350m to secure clear running.
WARNIE (IRE) – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
BOOM TORQUE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Checked near the 200m when I AM ARTIE shifted out. Jockey T. Brooker, rider of I AM ARTIE pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 200m, jockey Brooker failed to stop and straighten her mount which shifted out under riding, causing tightening to the running of guilty to BOOM TORQUE (K. Wilson-Taylor) which had to be checked. Jockey Brooker’s license to ride in races was suspended for 14 days commencing midnight the 13th of July and ending at midnight the 27th of July 2025. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
GRAND IMPACT (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
I AM ARTIE – Shifted out under pressure at the 200m.
FORTUNATE KISS – Slow to begin.
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Began awkwardly.
REDFORD – Momentarily held up passing the 500m. Improved onto heels near the 200m and had to be steadied.
RACE 8: HAYMANS CALOUNDRA CUP 2400 Metres
HEZASHOCKA (NZ) – Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for HEZASHOCKA being checked near the 200m.
NIKAU SPUR (NZ) – Raced wide until the 1000m before being ridden forward to a leading position.
RED WAVE – Raced wide from the 1000m.
FLASH AAH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 1000m.
HOPEFUL (FR) – Tightened for room near the 1400m and had to be steadied when THE RIGHT WAY shifted out. Apprentice E. Lang, rider of THE RIGHT WAY, was advised to exercise more care. Approaching the 800m, restrained from heels when FELIX THE SCAT shifted in and BEAR ON THE LOOSE shifted out marginally.
DARK DESTROYER (NZ) – Steadied approaching the 1800m when racing in restricted room to the inside of RED WAVE.
DON DIEGO DE VEGA (FR) – Raced wide during the early stages before being ridden forward to take up the lead near the 1400m.
DILLIAN (IRE) – Raced in restricted room near the 1900m to the inside of HALF YOURS and had to be steadied.
RACE 9: HEIGHT 4 HIRE BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes when jockey L. Tarrant was dislodged from OLD SONG which got away from the Clerk of the course and galloped riderless for a considerable distance. OLD SONG was declared a late scratching at 5.25pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on OLD SONG be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st DEEP RESPECT 1c win, 1c place
2nd GALIFIANAKIS 2c place
3rd HABEEBAH 2c place
THE DROVER – Stewards accepted trainer P. Busuttin’s reason for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin
TOESONTHENOSE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, tightened for room between DEEP RESPECT and GALIFIANAKIS which shifted out to obtain clear running. Rider A. Morgan was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear.
GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
TONNEOFGRIT – Slow to begin
DEEP RESPECT – Raced wide throughout.
NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
JUST FLYING – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
FAT FINGERS (NZ) – Due to no other rider being available to replace R. Stewart who was injured, Stewards allowed T. Brooker to ride the horse 1kg overweight. Slow to begin.
Following the running of this event N Beriman became unwell and was exhibiting signs of delayed concussion stemming from a fall, which occurred at Ipswich 3/7/25. Stewards ordered that jockey Beriman be stood down from riding for a 12 day period and must provide a medical clearance prior to riding again.
