GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 1: 10 ELEVATING – L. Dempsey +0.5kg (56kg)

Stewards noted the reasons for Jockey M. Murphy being replaced by Jockey G. Cartwright as the rider of MISHANI OSCAR in Race 1.

Trainer J. Healy was fined $300 pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor ELUSIVE DOMINA (Race 6) by the prescribed time.

Trainer R. Laming was reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor STRANGLEHOLD (Race 9) by the prescribed time. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Trainer R. Laming’s good disciplinary record.

RACE 1: LANDSBOROUGH PUB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M

JUST JIMMY – Laid in near the 200m. Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice J. Busuttin reported her mount was inclined to lay in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer M. Bailey was advised JUST JIMMY would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

WOOTTON YOU KNOW - Shifted out on jumping and bumped WILD LASS. After the running of the race, it was noted the colt lost both fore plates.

YO LEV – Bumped at the start. Near the 900m, bumped and became unbalanced when FLYING FORWARD (B. Wheeler) was carried in by JUST JIMMY (J. Busuttin) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J. Busuttin rider of JUST JIMMY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 900m when being ridden forward, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, resulting in FLYING FORWARD (B. Wheeler) being awkwardly placed at heels and was taken in and onto YO LEV (D. Boche) resulting in both runners being inconvenienced and losing their rightful running. Apprentice J. Busuttin’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days, commencing midnight Sunday 31 May 2026, concluding midnight Thursday 11 June 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer P. Butterworth was advised YO LEV would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

ELEVATING – Bumped shortly after the start.

IF SHE DARES – Shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped ELEVATING.

WILD BUTTERFLY – In the middle stages, raced greenly. Approaching the 100m, raced in restricted room. After the running of this race, it was noted the filly lost its near hind plate.

MISHANI ADIOS – Began awkwardly.

WILD LASS – Bumped at the start. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

FLYING FORWARD – Began awkwardly and bumped YO LEV.

SUMMER VIBE – Began awkwardly.

BRAVE BENNY – Laid in over the concluding stages. Raced wide for the majority. Bumped near the 900m.

MISHANI OSCAR – Slow to begin.

RACE 2: COTTON TREE STEAKS MAIDEN HANDICAP 2200 M

MONTESQUIEU (NZ) – Raced wide in the middle stages.

BENZINO – Raced in restricted room to the inside of MONTESQUIEU (NZ) near the 800m for a short distance. Apprentice R. Thorburn reported his mount was inclined to lay out throughout. Raced wide in the early stages.

TORMANZOR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 600m and was steadied. Near the 300m, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of VERRY STELLA (NZ) which laid in.

WILLBEKING – Bumped shortly after the start. Commenced to weaken near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

LUMINIZED (NZ) – Bumped at the start.

NEIGHTHAN – Shifted out at the start and bumped LUMINIZED (NZ). Inclined to lay out and over race leaving the home straight on the first occasion. After laying in in the early part of the home straight, commenced to shift out under riding approaching the 100m. Continued to shift out and bumped with VERRY STELLA (NZ) on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised a warning would be placed on NEIGHTHAN for hanging out in the home straight.

VERRY STELLA (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Carried wider over the final 100m when NEIGHTHAN (R. Wiggins), laid out and was bumped on several occasions. Jockey R. Wiggins was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

RAINBOW GLITTER – Connections advised a change of tactics, to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Settled back in the field.

RACE 3: DON JACKSON MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M

KING CHANGE underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious and cast in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:06pm.

On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on KING CHANCE to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - MOSHULU SPIRIT – 5c win, 4c place.
2nd - JOLLY JAPES – 14c place.
3rd - DIFRONZO – 10c place.

Trainer J. Aitkenhead was advised KING CHANCE would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate in either a jumpout or official trial.

SOVEREIGN BLUE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have sustained a laceration to the off hind hock.

BE AN ANGEL – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Bumped near the 800m when CAIRO QUEEN attempted to move away from the rail.

CAIRO QUEEN – Slow to begin and lost ground.

RACE 4: JEFFREY DUNN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes to allow remedial works to be undertaken to a section of the track near the 1200m.

FIRE ON ICE – Near the 300m, raced in restricted room when GOLDEN EYES (NZ) (T. Marshall) was taken in slightly ROYAL RIDDLE (A. Butler) which was awkward at the heels of I SAY I SAY (C. Graham) which shifted in before being corrected.

OVEROPTOMYSTIC – Shifted in on jumping. Near the 900m, checked and became awkwardly placed on the heels of TESSTIFY TRIO. Near the 500m, improved onto heels and was steadied.

I SAY I SAY – Near the 300m, shifted in before being corrected. Raced wide for the majority.

QUEEN JEDDAH – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.

TESSTIFY TRIO – Near the 900m, raced in restricted room to the inside of ARGYLE GOLD which shifted in and away from ROYAL RIDDLE which was racing greenly. As a result, TESSTIFY TRIO was brushed by ARGYLE GOLD, resulting in TESSTIFY TRIO shifting in, contacting the running rail and becoming severely unbalanced and losing ground. Stewards inquired into this incident and after taking evidence from riders Apprentice C. Bellamy, G. Cartwright and A. Butler, determined that no rider could be found at fault and that TESSTIFY TRIO resented racing in restricted room which contributed to the majority cause of the incident.

BONNIE BOUQUET – Near the 900m, raced in restricted room to the inside of EVENING DELLE (J. Newman) which shifted in. Apprentice J. Newman was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

ENTERPRISE GISELLE – Apprentice C. Sutherland reported his mount may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. Raced wide for the majority.

ROYAL RIDDLE – Near the 300m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of I SAY I SAY (C. Graham) and was obliged to restrain his mount before shifting wider approaching the 150m. Jockey A. Butler reported his mount raced greenly throughout the event.

EVENING DELLE – After the running of this race it was noted the filly had lost its off hind plate.

GOLDEN EYES (NZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics, to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Settled off pace. Near the 300m, raced in restricted room and was steadied.

ARGYLE GOLD – Had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300m.

BASSETT'S CHOICE – Connections advised a change of tactics, to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Settled at the ear of the field. Raced wide for the majority.

RACE 5: LANDSBOROUGH PUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 M

IMPACT ZONE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of POINT VEGA (M. Rodd) which shifted in. Jockey M. Rodd was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

HURRICANE LU – Held up for clear running approaching the 300m and again approaching the 100m. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Bumped near the 50m.

MISS MCLAREN – Trainer A. Campton was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

ENCOURAGED – Began awkwardly.

EKHIDNA – Laid in near the 50m and bumped HURRICANE LU.
RACE 6: HAHN BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200 M

ULUWATU – Held up for clear running until approaching the 250m.

SEISMIC BOOM – Held up for clear running in the home straight before being disappointed for a run leaving the 100m and was unable fully tested for remainder.

TREVATT COURT – Apprentice M. Philpot rider of TREVATT COURT pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for the use of her whip nine (9) times prior to the 100m, sixteen (16) times in totality. Apprentice M. Philpot’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days, commencing midnight Friday 29 May 2026, concluding midnight Saturday 6 June 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Rider Penalty Guidelines for Whip Rule Breaches.

HANNABANA – Near the 1100m, shifted in abruptly unbalancing its rider. Stewards advised Trainer T. MacKinnon was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the filly.

ZOUSLAYER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding having raced at the Gold Coast on Friday 22 May 2026 and was subsequently cleared to start. Slow to begin and was hampered shortly thereafter. Leaving the 600m, improved onto heels and steadied. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 300m until the 100m. Near the 150m, obliged to shift out and bumped with IN GREAT SPIRIT when awkwardly placed at the heels of DREAMWRITER. Jockey A. Butler was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 7: LIQUOR LEGENDS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400 M

BUSKER – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised BUSKER would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming (hung in, in the home straight). A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

BOLD AS BRASS – Began awkward.

EXTOL – Commenced to weaken from the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ALIQUAM – Raced wide for the majority.

CLASSIQUE GAL – Raced wide.

ELUSIVE DOMINA – Began awkwardly before mustering speed.

GOLD DAZZLER – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.

RACE 8: XXXX BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1400 M

DOWNEY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1000m, steadied from heels and shifted out.

IKASARA – Began awkwardly.

IONACELTIC – Hampered shortly after the start when SAN GABRIEL (NZ) laid out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

HOLY FLASH Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide.

OUT OF TURN – Slow to begin before mustering speed. Held up in the early part of the home straight before shifting out to obtain clear running.

BROOKLYN DAISY – Bumped on jumping.

RACE 9: LANDSBOROUGH PUB BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1600 M

BODHRAN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination in the tie ups after being contacted by another runner and was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Shifted wider rounding the home turn.

VANDEVELDE – Raced wide for the majority. Bumped with DOUBLE WHAMMY near the 350m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

GARINION RIGH – Hampered when BODHRAN (C. Sutherland) shifted wider rounding the home turn. Apprentice C. Sutherland was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

TRIPLE MALT – Raced wide for the majority.

CANTARITO – Connections advised a change of tactics, to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.

SUPRENDRE – Raced wide until approaching the 800m.

JAM PACKED – Laid in under pressure near the 300m.

GOLDEN MIKKI – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages.

DOUBLE WHAMMY – Slow to begin. Bumped with VANDEVELDE near the 350m.
