GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight request:
Race 6. F. Larson (DEVINE FALLS) +1kg
Race 3. Trainer C. Anderson was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on RED MOON RISING.
Race 5. Stewards noted the circumstances for the late rider changes on I MISS MARGIE and SHOWMAN.
Race 1- VAWDREY COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
WHISPERING ROGUE – Bumped on jumping. Weakened from the 200m. When asked to comment, rider T. Fenlon reported that her mount failed to travel comfortably throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Trainer’s representative for the Munce stable, N. Boyle was advised of the Racing Australia Code of Practice section 1 protocol for cardiac arrythmia.
STARLIGHTNING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RHETORIC – Shifted in near the 300m bumping with STARLIGHTNING.
SORT CHA MESS – Raced wide throughout. Rider L. Tilley reported that on jumping he momentarily lost the use of his offside rein and shifted out as a consequence.
TARA'S REWARD – Bumped on jumping.
MOROCCAN WIND – Leaving the 800m, became awkward in its action, shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
CLAUDIO – Severley hampered on jumping when SORT CHA MESS shifted out. Over raced during the early stages.
Race 2 - QUBE FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
HAND IN HAND (FR) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
SPIES ON – Slow to begin.
PERLE DE CHOCOLAT – Bumped on jumping
DAZZLING DIAMOND – Bumped on jumping. Near the 900m, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
ESTEE EMM – Began awkwardly.
STARVECCHIO –Steadied from the heels of DAZZLING DIAMOND near the 900m, raced ungenerously and shifted in. Continued to over race and obliged to steady from heels passing the 600m. Shifted in near the 300m. After taking some evidence from rider L. Tilley and trainer P. Webster regarding the tactics adopted on the filly, Stewards adjourned the matter to consider the evidence submitted thus far, further analyse the films and review wagering. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 3 - C & H RECRUITMENT MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
INDAMOUSE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
KUIA MA – Laid out under pressure approaching the line.
RUSSIAN DAHLIA – Slow to begin.
HURKLE DURKLE – When asked to comment on the performance, rider E. Lang could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
RED MOON RISING – Trainer C. Anderson was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the filly to race with winkers which are not part of its advertised gear. Raced wide until the 600m.
CITY BOUND – Began awkwardly.
MAKO (NZ) – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. When over racing near the 900m, shifted wider placing its rider at a disadvantage for some distance. Trainer B. Robinson was advised that MAKO will be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
EVERYREADY BUNNY – Underwent a pre race veterinary inspection after having not started for a considerable period of time. Shifted out on jumping, bumped and became unbalanced. Weakened from the 300m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainers A. & D. Simpson were advised that the gelding will be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
INSAIN LADY – Co-trainer A. Simpson was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the filly to race without pre race ear muffs, which are part of its advertised gear.
Race 4 - BUTLER FREIGHT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400 Metres
CHANCE DE LUNE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages. Near the 800m, improved onto heels and shifted out.
EXOBRAZEN – Began awkwardly.
SEATICUS – After being caught wide, allowed to stride forward to the lead passing the 800m.
WILD BEAN – Leaving the 600m, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of ENJECTOR. Near the 300m, when weakening, raced in restricted room, obliged to steady when ENJECTOR shifted in. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester, rider of ENJECTOR, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
LONTARA – A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
PARA PARK RUBY – Trainer J. Johnston was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the filly to race without winkers which are part of its advertised gear. Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice R. Thorburn was fined $400 pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the concluding stages.
Race 5 - RAMBLA CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
AGENDA SETTER – Slow to begin.
CUTEPI – Fractious in the barriers, delaying the start. Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Trainer K. Lees was advised that CUTEPI would incur a warning for its barrier manners.
Race 6 - STRAMIT BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BOLLINGER MISS – Slow to begin.
DEVINE FALLS – Rider F. Larson reported that his mount was inclined to hang throughout.
Race 7 - GENIS STEEL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
BARBRAY – Slow to begin.
CAPTAIN EAGLE – Near the 800m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
BUCKENARA – Rider L . Tilley reported that he was disappointed with his mounts effort when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
READY AZZ EVA – Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the gelding with blinkers which are not part of its advertised gear. Over raced in the middle stages. Near the 1400m, obliged to steady from the heels of CAPTAIN EAGLE which shifted out. Apprentice B. Wheeler, rider of CAPTAIN EAGLE, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Again had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300m and was momentarily held up.
LOVE TO TORQUE – Rider B. Thompson reported that it was not his intention to lead, however after being caught wide he allowed his mount to stride forward. Rider B. Thompson lost his whip near the 70m.
TARTAN TIGER – Raced wide throughout.
Race 8 - TROON REMINGTONS INSURANCE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1300 Metres
THUNDER AWARD – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 800m, then continued to race keenly for some distance.
JUNGLE FEVER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in over the final 100m.
CLUBMAN (GB) – Slow to begin.
VOVO – When asked to comment, rider B. Thornton reported that the mare was fractious pre race, however travelled well in the event except when asked for an effort in the home straight, proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
EXCEED PERFECTION – Held up for clear running between the 250m and the 100m.
LAMBERTINA (NZ) – Laid out over the final 250m.
CAPITAL CEE – Raced wide for the majority. Approaching the line, became awkwardly placed at the heels of IN GREAT SPIRIT which shifted in. Rider M. Hellyer, rider of IN GREAT SPIRIT, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
TANGO QUEEN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
IN GREAT SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly when trailing three wide in the middle stages.
SAHARA SPLASH – Began awkwardly and bumped. Inclined to lay in in the home straight obliging its rider to stop and straighten.
