GENERAL
Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was fined $400 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch TESTY NIC & VIDEO VIXEN as dual acceptors in race 4 by the prescribed time.
Trainer L. Gough was fined $100 pursuant to LR36(6) for failing to scratch MAJOR HOT as a dual acceptor in race 7 by the prescribed time.
Trainer B. Healey was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) in that he failed to declare a rider for MISS DYNAMO by the prescribed time.
RACE 1 – HAPPY FATHERS DAY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M
PREEMO BRO – Hampered at the start when GLEN’S HEN began awkwardly and shifted out and PIROUETTE GIRL began awkwardly and shifted in.
TED LASSO – Over-raced during the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. Held up for clear running when attempting to improve from approaching the 600m and was awkwardly placed at heels passing the 600m. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when PIROUETTE GIRL shifted out.
GLEN’S HEN - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped PREEMO BRO. Over-raced during the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. After passing the 600m, was buffeted between WINNING HARLOW to the outside and TED LASSO when that horse shifted out in an attempt to secure clear running.
PIROUETTE GIRL – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PREEMO BRO. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
WEONA SATONO (NZ) – Raced wide early and was ridden forward to the lead passing the 1200m.
RACE 2 – WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200M
ANDRILLE – Over-raced during the early stage and middle stages.
BYE BYE CASTLE – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
CYBER BOOM – Trainer R. Heathcote was reprimanded pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting CYBER BOOM with pre-race ear muffs which are not part of its declared gear. Bumped on jumping away when DO A LITTLE DANCE began awkwardly and shifted out.
DO A LITTLE DANCE – Began awkwardly and bumped CYBER BOOM. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ENUFF TORQUE – After passing the 100m, obliged to race in restricted room between HELLS REIN which shifted in, and MISS KIT KAT which shifted out.
HELLS REIN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SI SI SI SIESTA – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. After racing greenly throughout the event, made the home turn very awkwardly when placed in restricted room.
AURORA BLAZE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
MISS KIT KAT – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
MUDGEE PLAYGIRL – Trainer T. Mackinnon was reprimanded pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting MUDGEE PLAYGIRL with blinkers which is not part of its declared gear. Slow to begin.
UNTIL NEXT TIME – Slow to begin.
KAVA EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout. After passing the 100m, obliged to race in restricted room between HELLS REIN which shifted in, and MISS KIT KAT which shifted out.
RACE 3 – ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST CLASS 1 PLATE – 1000M
MOAKSUN - Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was fined $100 pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting MOAKSUN without blinkers which is part of its declared gear. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn and shifted out bumping with STARWARD on a number of occasions.
STARWARD – Raced wide throughout. Bumped and forced wider on a number of occasions rounding the home turn.
SUPER LUCK DRAGON (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
DOUBTWILLY – Jockey B. Thomspon reported that it had been his intention to ride in a more forward position, however, from the wide barrier it became apparent during the early stages that he would be unable to cross runners which were showing speed to his inside and he elected to take hold to obtain cover.
FLYING SCARLETT – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 4 – HIGGINS COATINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1000M
The start of this event was delayed due to VAREJAO making heavy contact with the railing partition leaving the mounting yard and as a result, dislodged jockey B. Thompson and galloping freely before being captured. Subsequently being declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:45pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on VAREJAO are to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – 20c win, 26c place – IT’S KAOS
2nd – 26c place – JUNGLE WONDER
3rd – 20c place - VESSEY
SWAGGERING (NZ) – Became awkward in its stride near the 700m. Following this, then laid in during the middle stages. Forced wider approaching the 100m when obliged to avoid the heels of WHIP ‘N NEIGHNEIGH and became awkward in its action as a result.
IMMINENT APPEAL – Bumped with JUNGLE WONDER on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.
VESSEY - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrythmia. Trainer C. Munce was advised that VESSEY would now be required to obtain a satisfactory ECG and veterinary certificate prior to the gelding galloping 1000m or trialing in the presence of a stewards.
JUNGLE WONDER - Began awkwardly and bumped IMMINENT APPEAL.
FLYING ZUZU – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
BAD MANNERS – Began awkwardly and bumped MYSTIC BOOM.
MYSTIC BOOM – Began awkwardly, bumped BAD MANNERS and lost ground. Rider K. Zechner reported that MYSTIC BOOM felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer C. Cousins advised that MYSTIC BOOM would now be retired. Stewards advised C. Cousins that MYSTIC BOOM would be required to trial prior to racing again.
PICK THE LOCK – When asked to comment on the performance of PICK THE LOCK in todays event. Jockey E. Lang stated that she was not disappointed, however, added the gelding would derive benefit from the race experience.
IT’S KAOS – Rider dropped whip over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.
MAJOR HOT – Had difficulty securing clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
WHIP ‘N NEIGHNEIGH - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced and forced wider approaching the 100m when MAJOR HOT shifted out.
RACE 5 – CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 2200M
CIGAR MAN – Raced wide throughout. Lost the near hind plate in running.
TEWKESBURY – Passing the 400m, was inconvenienced and had to be steadied when CIGAR MAN was forced wider when ORMOND ROAD shifted out.
TRIPLE TIME – Began awkward and lost ground. Over-raced during the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Near the 150m, bumped with MISS DYNAMO after shifting out.
TARAVIA (NZ) – Jockey B. Thomspon reported that it was not his intention to lead however due to a lack of early pace in the event he allowed his mount to stride forward approaching the 1800m to take up the lead.
MISS DYNAMO – Near the 150m bumped with TRIPLE TIME after shifting in.
HIGHLAND KITTY – Was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
RACE 6 – BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1000M
The start of this event was delayed due to the false start light falling over and having to be attended to. As well as NORTH OF ELI having to have its blinkers replaced behind the barriers due to them being deemed unsuitable for racing. After hearing the evidence, trainer P. Burns was reprimanded pursuant to AR232(f) for presenting NORTH OF ELI with unsuitable gear.
ESTRONDO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
CONTILDA’S LOVE – Slow to begin.
SIR MAURICE – Leaving the 900m, was obliged to steady from the heels of ESTRONDO which shifted in, when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice E. Pozmond was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding.
OOHLALOUVRE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
I MISS MARGIE - Slow to begin.
RACE 7 – CLUTCH LEGAL RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP – 1200M
HE IS THE KISS – Raced wide for the majority.
INQUISITOR – Trainer R. Dart was fined $100 pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting INQUISITOR without blinkers which is part of its declared gear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey R Maloney reported that his mount had no early gate speed and was in his opinion disappointing today however could offer no explanation.
MOET AT MIDNIGHT – Approaching the 600m commenced to over race and was restrained from the heels of GIN ‘N’ JUICE.
WE DO REMEMBER – Approaching the 1000m was steadied when obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of RAZOR’S MAGIC which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Raced greenly throughout and laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Thompson was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.
ROARING SUCCESS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m was restrained from the heels of INQUISITOR which shifted in. After passing the 600m, was steadied and lost ground from the heels of GULF OF SAROS after that horse had lost ground.
CAESAR CAKE – Slow to begin.
GULF OF SAROS – Began awkwardly, bumped with GIN ‘N’ JUICE and lost ground. Passing the 600m, had to be checked from the heels of MOET AT MIDNIGHT after that horse had been steadied from heels.
RACE 8 – TAB BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 1400M
ALDOLFITO – Slow to begin.
ENTRUSTING - Shortly after passing the 400m, was steadied to avoid the heels of NIGHTCAPPED when that horse was taken out by SENESCHAL (IRE) which in turn had been taken out by TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ) which was taken out by CAPTAIN EAGLE when that horse shifted ground. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding.
NIGHTCAPPED – Shortly after passing the 400m was forced wider to avoid the heels of SENESCHAL (IRE) when that horse was taken out by TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ).
SENESCHAL (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Forced wider shortly after passing the 400m when TEN GOOD THINGS (NZ) was taken out by CAPTAIN EAGLE.
TEN GOOD REASONS (NZ) – Near the 900m, was obliged to steady from the heels of CAPITAL EAGLE, which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding. Forced wider after passing the 400m when CAPITAL EAGLE shifted out. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted as the horse was ridden forward in todays event. Jockey A. Sewell stated that the horse began better than it has been in recent starts and whilst he did attempt to be in the first half of the field, it had not been his intention to lead. However, during the early stages, when clearly unable to obtain a position closer to the fence, he elected to continue forward to settle on the speed.
ZAHER (NZ) – Trainer J. Duncan was fined $100 pursuant to AR206(1) for presenting ZAHER (NZ) without a tongue tie which is part of its declared gear. Slow to begin.
NIGHT STICK - Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
LA ROSETTA – Steadied from heels near the 1100m when FIFTH FORCE shifted in.
