GENERAL
As Jockey R Faehr was not riding at today’s meeting due to acceptable reasons, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Prior to Race 1, a delegation of senior riders and Stewards inspected a 3 metre x 5 metre soft section of the track approximately 50 metres before the winning post on the outside running rail. After the inspection, all riders and Stewards were satisfied that the soft area posed no safety concerns to horses or riders.
Race 1: BILL ROGERS MEMORIAL / E.E PARR O.B.E QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up.1000 Metres
TRAPEZE FLYER – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly causing Jockey D Evans to become momentarily unbalanced and was bumped by PLEA shortly after jumping and as a result lost ground. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m obliging Jockey Evans to stop riding and straighten his mount resulting in the gelding going to the line without being fully tested. Trainer P O’Toole was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of TRAPEZE FLYER. Mr O’Toole advised Stewards that it would be his intension to experiment with gear being added to the gelding prior to his next start.
PLEA – Blundered on jumping. Bumped heavily by CHERRY POP shortly after jumping and lost ground. Shifted in after being bumped by CHERRY POP and bumped TRAPEZE FLYER.
CHERRY POP – Began awkwardly and jumped inwards heavily bumping PLEA. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
SHE'S A FERRARI – Underwent a prerace Veterinary inspection and was passed suitable to start.
Race 2: NUTRIEN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
BRILLIANT MELODY – Bumped rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the home straight.
BEST SIDE – Raced wide throughout. Jockey C Rogers reported that passing the 300m she momentarily dropped her reins when trying to free her whip which had become tangled in the mane of BEST SIDE.
THARGOMINDAH – Bumped ARABIAN SOO on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 200m.
ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – Began awkwardly.
LEGOLAS – Shifted out under pressure passing the100m.
ABOUT RIGHT – Jumped inwards. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
OUTBACK STEP – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SHEZAJUKE - Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn and bumped BRILLIANT MELODY.
IKNOWYOU – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ARABIAN SOO – Began awkwardly and made contact with the offside barrier gate. Bumped THARGOMINDAH on jumping and lost ground. After reviewing the footage of the race, Stewards questioned Jockey E Bell in regard to her momentarily stopping riding and raising her hand to her helmet when passing the 50m mark. Jockey Bell stated that after losing her googles and cap at about the 600m, for some unknown reason her helmet came forward covering her eyes passing the 50m and she was required to raise her hand and push the helmet back to enable herself to regain vision. Stewards were of the opinion that this incident did not cost ARABIAN SOO a chance to win the race and noted Jockey Bell’s explanation.
Race 3: WOODHAM PETROLEUM BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
HARBOUR GOLD – Began awkwardly.
TURNSTAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 150m, raced in restricted room between OAKFIELD TARGET which laid in and VICI.
TANGO FAME – Slow to begin.
OAKFIELD TARGET - Raced wide throughout. Laid in down the home straight.
PORKY – Slow to begin.
SO OUTRAGEOUS – Put in an awkward stride passing the 200m.
Race 4: MT ENNISKILLEN TAMBO CUP / OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE - OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
SCORCHED LAND – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HEYINGTON STATION – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
I AM GOOD AT THIS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: LANSDOWNE / TURNBULL FAMILY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
SHARP DAZZLER – Held up approaching the 200m and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
GREGARIOUS – Beagan awkwardly. Brushed with TIME TO TESTIFY passing the 200m.
I SHOT THE SHERIFF – Shifted out under pressure passing the 300m before being straightened by its rider.
DIVINE COURAGE – Raced wide throughout.
TIME TO TESTIFY – Began awkwardly. Brushed withGREGARIOUS passing the 200m.
BUGDEN – Shifted in passing the 100m and was then steadied after commencing to lay in from that point.
HIT ‘EM UP – Steadied from heels passing the 600m.
THE LANDING – Raced wide throughout.
VICTORY BEANS – Slow to begin. Commenced to lay in passing the 200m. Jockey C Rodgers was obliged to stop riding and straighten the gelding passing the 100m.
SADDLES – Slow to begin.
