Race 1: VANDERFIELD QTIS 3YO BM65 H'CAP – 1050M

VULCANIC DRAGON – Momentarily held up near the 400m.

OUR LADY MAC – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

KILGHARRAH – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. S. Bogenhuber reported that the gelding, when racing first up, did not run out the distance.

COLEY – Bumped with another runner at the start. Hung out for the majority of the event and laid out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer G. Duncan was advised that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start.

TRY ‘N’ CATCH ME – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced when overracing leaving the 600m when OUR LADY MAC shifted in. As a result, the gelding got its head up, raced ungenerously for a short distance and shifted out. Held up for clear running until the 100m.

MISS SUGAR PUSS – Bumped with another runner at the start. Laid out under pressure approaching the winning post.

DRINKING COCKTAILS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse’s next start.

Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M

Due to transport difficulties, apprentice N. Nishio was unable to fulfil his engagement on JILL’S JOURNEY and was replaced by apprentice T. Williams.

STARWOOD – Raced three wide without cover throughout and laid out under pressure in the home straight.

STELLAR HEIGHTS – Apprentice B. Newport reported at scale that his mount hung out for the entire event.

JAI’S LUCK – Began awkwardly and made contact with PEARLY COURT.

LIMERICK MOON – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

JILL’S JOURNEY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

PEARLY COURT – Held up for clear running for a short distance at the top of the straight.

LITTLE PADDY – Jumped very awkwardly and lost ground.


Race 3: TYRRELL’S WINES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M

SCENIC ROAD – Apprentice L. Attard was injured when the horse reared up and made contact with his head prior to the start. After being examined by paramedics, apprentice Attard was stood down from his ride and SCENIC ROAD was declared a late scratching at 5.53 pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SCENIC ROAD be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

8 cents in the dollar for the Win #12
10 cents in the dollar for place of winner #12
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4

As apprentice Attard was transported to hospital, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

POUND ON TUBBY – Got its head up, hung out and raced ungenerously when restrained near the 900m.Inclined to lay in under pressure despite the efforts of its rider on entering the home straight, shifted in and made contact with HANDFUL OF SILVER, which became unbalanced for a considerable distance and laid in on to INTERLUDE, which was tightened for room and had to be checked when racing between HANDFUL OF SILVER and RED WARNING, which commenced to lay out near the 200m despite the efforts of its rider.

SNEAKY PETERSON – Inconvenienced near the 900m.

HANDFUL OF SILVER – Got its head up, hung out and raced ungenerously when restrained near the 900m.

DINA’S DRAGON – Brushed the running rail near the 900m. Improved into a narrow run inside MASSIVE ATTACK (E. Ljung) at the 500m and had to be steadied when that runner shifted in. Apprentice E. Ljung was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Near the 200m had to be steadied away from the heels of MASSIVE ATTACK, which shifted out slightly away from the heels of STRENGTH.

AUBREY’S ACE – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

RED WARNING – Near the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of MASSIVE ATTACK (E. Ljung), which shifted in momentarily when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Ljung was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.

ROCKLEA RAIDER – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

Race 4: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT RATINGS BAND 0-62 H'CAP – 1625M

LANDALE – Bumped with another runner at the start. Stewards questioned apprentice T. Williams regarding her tactics. Apprentice Williams stated that the instructions were to lead, however the trainer did comment that the horse was inclined to race keenly and possibly hang. Apprentice Williams reported that after obtaining the lead she attempted to restrain the gelding, however was unable to and as a result her mount raced several lengths in front of the rest of the field and did not finish the race off strongly. Stewards accepted the explanation.

MAUGHAN – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

DRIVING WHEELS – Bumped with another runner at the start.

HEART STEALER – Knuckled on jumping. Shifted out and bumped another runner near the 400m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

GLAMORGAN BABE – Brushed with another runner near the 150m.

BLESSINGS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GETTING’JIGGYWITHIT – Bumped by another runner near the 400m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Brushed with another runner near the 150m.

EASY TO SMILE – Slow to begin.

Race 5: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BM70 H'CAP – 1850M

LEGSMAN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer L. Paton could offer no tangible explanation other than that the gelding had been racing well this preparation and she had anticipated a forward showing.

SHAKES – Bumped with another runner on jumping away.

SURFACE TENSION – Held up for clear running from near the 500m until entering the home straight. Bumped with another runner leaving the 200m. Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell was reprimanded for raising his whip arm above shoulder height.

CHANTILLY MISS – Slow to begin.

CALEDONIA’S CALL – Bumped with another runner leaving the 200m. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, G. Geran explained that the gelding overraced and hung out in the early stages and as a result was unable to finish the race off strongly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

EXCITING DOLL – Jumped awkwardly. Commenced to overrace near the 1400m, got its head up and shifted out, then continued to overrace until near the 1000m and raced wide from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with trainer M. Nolan in the days following the event regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.

UP AND ABLAZE – Bumped with another runner on jumping away.

LIDO – Overraced in the early stages.

Race 6: XXXX GOLD BM80 H'CAP – 1000M

TYCOON TATTOO – As the horse had not raced in 13 months, the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

BAHSA – Raced wide throughout.

THE YOWIE – Near the 600m raced ungenerously to the inside of IONA FAST ONE (A. Merritt), which was hanging in. Jockey Merritt was reminded to leave enough room for riders to his inside. Raced in restricted room and bumped with JOHNNYDRAMA approaching the 400m.

JOHNNYDRAMA – Overraced and hung out in the early stages.

Race 7: WINNING EDGE MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

HEY MURRI – As the horse had not raced in 2 years, the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

SESANCHO – Tightened for room at the start when LUCKY ELLA shifted in. Overraced and laid in in the middle stages.

CAVALIA – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. On entering the home straight shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, bumping heavily with CHRISTIES JOY, which was checked, which in turn bumped LUCKY ELLA, which became unbalanced. R. Goltz reported that his mount hung in throughout.

NATIONAL TRAIL – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. Raced three wide without cover. Apprentice E. Ljung reported at scale that her mount hung in throughout and raced greenly in the home straight, preventing her from riding it out with her usual vigour.

DANNI’S DIVA – Slow to begin.
