GOING GOING GONE – When questioned as to the disappointing performance, apprentice E. KING OF THE FLAME – Stewards questioned apprentice L. Tilley in relation to his tactics, whereby the gelding raced three wide without cover throughout the event whilst racing outside the leaders. Of concern to Stewards was apprentice Tilley’s failure to take advantage of what appeared to be an opportunity to settle in a one out, one back position in the early stages of the event. Apprentice Tilley advised Stewards that trainer P. Webster issued firm instructions to lead tonight, as per its customary racing pattern, however after beginning awkwardly, he was forced to pressure the horse more than he had anticipated in an endeavour to comply with the instructions. Apprentice Tilley added that when unable to cross runners to his inside, this resulted in him racing three wide throughout the event. Trainer P. Webster confirmed the instructions issued to apprentice Tilley. Stewards, whilst bearing in mind the instructions issued by Mr Webster, nevertheless advised apprentice Tilley that in their opinion he erred in not electing to obtain a position available to him one out, one back, however took the matter no further.

SIR ALBERT – S. Bogenhuber was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
TILLZALE – Began awkwardly. Stewards questioned D. McIntosh in relation to the horse’s disappointing performance. He advised that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the event, however from passing the 500m it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer G. Schwenke in the days subsequent to tonight’s event regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
THAT’S MAGIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

SCRAWLING – Prior to the declaration of correct weight, application was made by D. McIntosh for his mount to be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from the starter Mr C. Nation and jockey McIntosh and viewing the patrol films, Stewards established that the horse was standing awkwardly in the barriers and was slow to begin, losing considerable ground. As Stewards were satisfied that the sole reason for the horse losing ground at the start was as a result of its own manners the application for it to be declared a non-runner was denied.
Race 6: HANNAS MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
JERRYVIL – Apprentice T. Brooker reported at scale that her mount laid in under pressure in the home straight. TURKANA – Stewards questioned apprentice M. Schrapel in relation to the horse’s disappointing performance. He advised that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the event, however from passing the 500m it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Trainer K. Jones advised Stewards that the horse would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an abnormal action in the off hind leg. Stewards advised Mr Jones that he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it racing again.
WHEN IN DOUBT – Slow to begin.
THE BIG CROWNING – Stewards questioned trainer P. Facoory in relation to the horse’s seemingly improved performance.
