BLUISH HUE – Harmlessly dislodged Jockey L. Tilley behind the barriers. Began awkwardly before being steadied off heels soon after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages before shifting out and bumping near the 800m. Bumped again near the 700m. Jockey L. Tilley was examined by QAS following the running of this race, complaining of a sore right wrist, and was deemed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements.

Trainers representative Mr P. Martin advised that, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

RICHBOY HARRY – Began awkwardly. Obliged to shift in and away from the heels of HELLO PUNTERS near the 150m.

GEITZ – Began awkwardly. Forced wider near the 800m. Raced wide until the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 2: MORT & CO MAIDEN PLATE (870m)

Correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to view footage of the start. Once satisfied that the poor starts of both RED TOFFEE and VAIN ROSSI were directly attributable to their barrier manners, correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.

Geran was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for the poor performance.

Jockey Smith’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing Monday 19 May 2025 and to conclude Thursday, 29 May 2025. In assessing the matter, Stewards considered the degree of carelessness and interference, his guilty plea and good record in relation to the rule. Jockey Smith was advised of his rights to an appeal. Bumped near the 300m. Jockey D. Smith was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish, in considering the matter Stewards noted Jockey Smith’s lack of vigor over the final stride of the event may have denied his mount 5th placing, but were unable to be comfortably satisfied of this fact.
