GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following over-weights at tonights meeting:
Race 1- Jockey M Savva + 1kg
RACE 1: FARM TO TABLE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
WANT TO BE PROUD- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Bumped on the hindquarters on entering the home straight. Raced wide for the majority. App C Vitler advised that his mount had been inclined to hang in throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
POWERFUL WARRIOR- Crowded on jumping and bumped.
RED TOFFEE- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages when the pace slackened, over-racing on heels for some distance leaving the 800m. Laid in near the 900m. Held up for clear running approaching the 300m. Obliged to shift out and away from heels on entering the home straight and bumped.
HASANA- Tightened on entering the home straight, bumping and having to be momentarily steadied. Raced wide for the majority.
EJAY'S FIREFOX- Began awkwardly and bumped. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.
FLASH DRIVE- Bumped on jumping and was momentarily crowded soon after. Shifted out on entering the home straight obliging RED TOFFEE to be shifted wider and inconveniencing HASANA. App C Baker was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards noted the marginal nature of FLASH DRIVE’s shift as well as the prompt remedial efforts of App Baker which were deemed to be mitigating factors in terms of culpability.
MIDNIGHT MIRACLE- Slow into stride.
WEATHER- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Over-race on heels near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor laceration to the near-side hind fetlock consistent with being galloped on in running.
GOOD GIRL POLLY- Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 200m.
LIFE OF TREE- Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Raced wide from the 700m. Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 200m.
ALZURRI- Slow into stride.
RACE 2: PRYDE'S EASIFEED CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the start to ensure BOONAH FLASHER was afforded a fair start. After viewing the official patrol footage Stewards determined that the mares poor start was as a result of its barrier manners after being afforded a fair start and subsequently declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
WARILLA GORILLA- Bumped approaching the 100m.
BEE TWO- When queried regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer G Richardson advised that the addition of the off-side blinker had been to the geldings benefit and after impressing in a recent jumpout the stable had expected a forward showing.
BOONAH FLASHER- Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer G Osbourne was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
READY AND MABEL- Raced keenly on heels near the 700m. Bumped approaching the 100m.
ADDICTIVE PIRANHA- Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stable representative A Bannister advised that, in his opinion, being caught wide had been to the filly’s detriment especially being first up in the preparation, adding further that a fitness benefit would likely be drawn from the run.
SAPANA'S PEARL- Laid in under pressure down the running, becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 200m.
LUDIK- Raced keenly on heels near the 800m before becoming awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 600m and having to be steadied.
DUCHESS BREE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. App S Callow was reminded of her obligations pursuant to AR132(6)(b) to ensure her whip hand is not raised above shoulder height.
STORMSTOUT- Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
RACE 3: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1300m
MAGIC IN ME- Jockey M Savva was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that she did permit her mount to shift in near the 900m when not fully clear of BEARHUG obliged that runner to shift in, crowding THE DEPUTY. Raced wide for the majority. Finished tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G Schwenke advised on 5July that the gelding had pulled up well following the event however had a bruised near-side eye consistent with receiving kickback in running. Mr Schwenke advised further it would now be the intention to send the gelding for a short spell. Stewards advised Mr Schwenke that the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

LADY SOAMES- Raced keenly near the 900m. Momentarily crowded near the 800m.
THE DEPUTY (NZ)- Bumped on jumping. Crowded near the 900m. Raced keenly on heels near the 700m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
CHINCHILLA AHEAD- Bumped on jumping.
COMMAND APPROVED- Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m.
HUSS ON FIRST- Crowded and bumped on jumping. Laid in despite the efforts of its rider and momentarily crowded LADY SOAMES near the 800m.
BEARHUG- Shifted in and away from heels when crowded near the 900m.
RACE 4: FOCUS HR CLASS 3 PLATE 1200m
DRANG A TANG- Laid in and bumped the inside running rail near the 900m. Held up for clear running approaching the 300m.
BONJOUR RUPERT- Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure down the running, proving difficult to be shifted to the outside of heels to secure clear running near the 150m.
MACHINE HEAD- Bumped on jumping.
JUKEBOX GLOW- Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from a point leaving the 500m until the 350m.
PUREZZA- Raced keenly near the 900m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Laid in under pressure down the running. Lost an off-fore plate in running.
PERFECT MISSION- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting clinical signs of cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer C Geran was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG prior to galloping 1000m and undergoing an immediate veterinary examination prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
HOTFOOT PERFORMER- Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Stewards queried App C Sutherlands riding in the early stages, particularly his allowing his the gelding to settle in a position detached from the body of the field. With the benefit of hindsight, App Sutherland concurred with Stewards that he had excessively restrained his mount in the early stages and then been too slow in his efforts to rectify his error and attempt to regain a position nearer to the main field. Stewards noted the explanation and intend to refer the matter to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training team for review.
TORTILLA- Raced wide in the early stages until being restrained near the 1000m to obtain a rearward position nearer the inside running rail. Jockey C Taylor advised in employing this tactic and once settling into a rearward position his mount failed to take up the bit despite his efforts however, ultimately finished the race well.
CAVALHEIRO- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. Lost and off-hind plate in running. Trainer N Hemmings advised on 5 July that the gelding commenced showing symptoms of a respiratory infection on returning to the stable and after being examined by a veterinarian had commenced a course of treatment. Ms Hemmings was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
RACE 5: GERRY BROWN'S SHELVING & STORAGE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1000m
AKAKA FALLS- Began awkwardly, bumped, became awkwardly placed on heels and lost ground.
MINIMAL- App C Sutherland advised that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited to events over further distances.
MY NAME IS (NZ)- Bumped and crowded on jumping. Disappointed for a run near the 350m before being momentarily steadied and shifted in, before then having to be shifted out and around heels soon after entering the home straight.
BEAU WITNESS- Laid out rounding the home turn, before then shifting in on entering the home straight and becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. App S Callow was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to rider her mount out to the finish of the event, ceasing doing so one stride from the winning post.
ISLAND TIDE- Began awkwardly.
TOKYO SINS- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped.
RACE 6: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1890m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the start to ensure LUCIFER THE CAT was afforded a fair start. After viewing the official patrol footage Stewards determined that App C Vitler had bee dislodged as a result of the geldings barrier manner after being afforded a fair start and subsequently declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
MARAVICH (IRE)- Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m.
SLUGWORTH- Raced keenly on heels near the 1600m. Shifted in marginally near the 800m crowding PROCLAIMER, before being quickly corrected by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and a laceration to the off-hind fetlock consistent with being galloped on in running.
I'M THAT GUY (NZ)- Bumped approaching the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.
PROCLAIMER- Slow to begin. Crowded and obliged to steady leaving the 1700m. Momentarily crowded near the 800m.
COSMIC INSANITY- Shifted in leaving the 1700m and inconvenienced PROCLAIMER. Jockey N Tomizawa was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
BRAVE HOSHI- Bumped near the 1700m. Raced keenly near the 1500m. Bumped approaching the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority.
LUCIFER THE CAT- Reared as the start was effected, dislodging App C Vitler and completed the course riderless. Trainer V Venkaya was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
RACE 7: MORT & CO QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 870m
The start was delayed after rider expressed concerns with the proximity of the fields starting position in relation to the inside running rail, which necessitated the removal of IRONBRIDGE, CALL GIRL & DOTTI BISKIT from the barriers before being reloaded into a wider barrier. The start was further delayed when DOTTI BISKET, which had initially been reluctant to load proved difficult to load on the second occasion and KINGSLAND then refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 8:18pm.
KINGSLAND- Declared a late scratching at 8:18pm after refusing to load. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applied to all successful wagers placed prior to 8:18pm:
23cents in the dollar for the win
26cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
24cents in the dollar for 2nd place
12cents in the dollar for 3rd place
Trainer T Pascoe was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
IRONBRIDGE- Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid out and bumped near the 50m.
CHASING TIME- Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages momentarily hampering DOTTI BISKIT. App C Vitler was advised to exercise greater care and to stop and straighten his mounts far sooner in similar circumstances.
JELAILA- Raced greenly for the majority.
CALL GIRL- Slow to begin. Bumped near the 50m.
DOTTI BISKIT- Difficult to load. Trainer L Hatch was advised a warning would be placed on the filly as a result. Shifted out and away from heels over the concluding stages.
SKY BLUE- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
