SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Race 3: Apprentice K. Lenton was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for permitting TUHINGA to shift out under pressure approaching the 100m placing ELENAOR NANCY and DON’T DISS AROUND in restricted room and resulting in DON’T DISS AROUND having to be steadied.
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 1: G Geran +1(56kg)
Stewards declared CHANCE WITH WOLVES a late scratching at 8.09am. Stewards accepted the reasons that were tendered by trainer J. Aitkenhead.
As riders L. Tilley (injury), G. Cartwright (commitments at the Gold Coast meeting) and apprentice J. Busuttin (transport difficulties) were not riding, rider changes were made as per the steward’s summary.
Trainer M. Currie was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of apprentice K. Lenton as the rider of DRANG A TANG (Race 3).
Trainer R. Dart was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of apprentice M. Goring as the rider of JUSTICE SERVED (Race 5).
Rider N Tomizawa was reprimanded under the provisions of AR128(1) for not being on course by the prescribed time.
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Good 4 at 4.15pm.
When rider M. Gray was reported as not riding at the meeting, J. Taylor was declared as the replacement rider for TILIA (Race 4). Stewards will inquire into the reasons for M. Gray not riding at the meeting.
RACE 1: FOCUS HR BM62 HANDICAP 1625 M
MALECON – Near the 150m was disappointed for a run and then raced in restricted room and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
MAPLE DOOR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out rounding the turn approaching the 1200m and when being steadied raced ungenerously with its head up for a short distance and near the 1100m was then restrained from heels. Rounding the home turn improved up behind runners before shifting in to obtain clear running. Laid in from the 200m until approaching the 100m when disappointed for a run, before shifting out near the 75m to obtain clear running.
SACHEM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Near the 600m commenced to weaken and hang out until entering the home straight, before being eased down from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer C. Rogers was advised that considering the poor performance, the gelding’s nomination for Provincial Tab meetings would not be accepted until it establishes more competitive form at Country race meetings, and that a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging out.
LINTHORPE LUCK - Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Approaching and leaving the 200m was restrained when tightened for room and lost its rightful running. K. Yoshida the rider of POWER PACK was found guilty of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), that approaching and leaving the 200m, whilst riding his mount along, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LINTHORPE LUCK (D. Boche) which had to be restrained when tightened for room and losing its rightful running. K. Yoshida’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days, to commence midnight 7/03/2026 up to and including midnight 14/03/2026.
MOOTESSA - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Bumped approaching the 200m.
HOKKAIDO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Shifted out when placed under pressure leaving the 200m before being corrected by the rider. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Robinson stated the gelding was having its first start for him today, adding that the previous start was not disappointing considering the horse had stood flatfooted. He further added the gelding was required to trial and had pleased him with its performance in preparation for today’s race.
FLYING CELICA – Held up momentarily near the 400m. Shifted out to improve approaching the 200m and bumped MOTESSA.
AOOM'S CHOICE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
RACE 2: CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA BM60 HANDICAP 1200 M
HEROIC CHIEF – When the pace eased near the 900m, improved onto heels and was steadied. Improved onto heels near the 600m and was steadied. Approaching the 200m was steadied when TORENESS (R. Thorburn) shifted in under pressure when insufficiently clear. Apprentice R. Thornburn was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident. Laid out from the 150m when placed under pressure.
BUTT HEADS – Raced keenly in the early stages.
GOBBLED – Change of tactics, ride further forward – settled at the back of the field. Slow to begin. Raced at the tail of the field before weakening from near the 600m and finishing a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer C. Rogers was advised that considering the poor performance, the gelding’s nomination for Provincial Tab meetings would not be accepted until it establishes more competitive form at Country race meetings.
TORONESS - When placed under pressure near the 200m shifted in abruptly.
PORRISTA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
WORTHY ENUFF – Began awkwardly. When placed under pressure laid in down the home straight.
SHOUTS ALL DAY - Trainer E. Ropiha was fined under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting the mare to race without blinkers. Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 3: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BM70 HANDICAP 1200 M
KORUTO – Began awkwardly.
DRANG A TANG – Fractious in barriers. Approaching the 1000m was momentarily steadied when THAT’S AN EXTRA (G. Geran) shifted in. Rider G. Geran was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
BIG BOY GEORGE - When questioned, rider A Butler reported that it was not his intention to be as far forward, that his instructions were to ride the gelding where comfortable, however after beginning well he allowed his mount to stride and obtain a position outside the leader. He further added the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bilateral nasal discharge. Trainer M. Currie was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of results from an endoscopic examination before racing again.
SATAY CHICKEN (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
THE DEPUTY (NZ) - Laid in when from the 200m when placed under pressure.
THAT'S AN EXTRA - Raced keenly in the early stages.
PRINCE CARLOS – Change of tactics, to be ridden midfield – settled back. Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 4: RDO EQUIPMENT QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
BRAVE HORATIUS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 800m improved onto heels and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
COMIN'HOMETOYOU – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
HELL TO THE LINE - Slow to begin. Apprentice R. Thorburn was harmlessly dislodged on pulling up, advising Stewards that he did not require assessment by QAS officers.
ILLEGAL JUSTICE - Raced wide throughout.
SPOILT ROTTEN – Apprentice rider K. Lenton was found guilty of a charge pursuant to AR131(b) and was fined $300 for failing to ride SPOILT ROTTEN out over the final three strides of the race. In determining penalty, Stewards were not satisfied that K. Lenton’s actions had cost SPOILT ROTTEN third place.
THE GRAND DUCHY – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly.
YEAH BUDDY – Jumped out at the start and bumped CHOCECLAIR.
CHOCECLAIR – Bumped at the start. Leaving the 1100m was checked and lost rightful running. Apprentice K. Lenton in the presence of senior rider K. Yoshida, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR31(a), that at a point leaving the 1100m she permitted SPOILT ROTTEN to shift in when insufficiently clear of ILLEGAL JUSTICE (D. Turner) which was taken across the running of CHOCECLAIR (H. Shaw) which was checked and lost its rightful running. K. Lenton’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days, to commence midnight 7/03/2026 up to and including midnight 19/03/2026. Leaving the 900m was steadied from heels. Near the 600m was steadied from heels.
REDWOOD GRANGE – Slow to begin. Near the 600m improved onto the heels of TILIA which was weakening as was steadied.
TILIA - Began awkwardly and bumped. Leaving the 1000m bumped on the hindquarters on two occasions, becoming unbalanced and leaving the 900m made contact with the running rail and was checked. At an inquiry, Stewards found that leaving the 1000m, CLEARLY NOT (M. Savva) had marginally laid in and away from YEAH BUDDY (K. Zechner) making contact with TILIA which became unbalanced on two occasions, a short distance later leaving the 900m, YEAH BUDDY shifted in marginally placing CLEARLY NOT and TILIA in restricted room, resulting in TILIA making contact with the rail, becoming unbalanced and being checked. Stewards whilst noting TILIA became unbalanced as a result of being bumped on two occasions by CLEARLY NOT, did issue rider K. Zechner (YEAH BUDDY) with a reprimand for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for shifting in placing runners to his inside in further restricted room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
CLEARLY NOT – Shifted in on jumping and bumped. Commenced to weaken from the 500m and finished a significant distance from the main body of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading was advised that considering the poor performance, the gelding’s nomination for Provincial Tab meetings would not be accepted until it establishes more competitive form at Country race meetings.
RACE 5: SHEPPARD EARTHMOVING BM60 HANDICAP 2150 M
JUSTICE SERVED - Raced wide from the 1100m. Near the 350m laid in and bumped MICHIFUKU and became unbalanced.
LIKEABEEL- Apprentice K. Lenton reported her instructions were to jump and find a comfortable position, however due to the fast speed of the race, the gelding settled back further than anticipated despite her efforts. K. Lenton added she was obliged to place her mount under pressure from the 1000m and that LIKEABEEL ran home fairly.
TEWKESBURY – Shifted in on jumping and bumped becoming unbalanced.
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – When the pace eased approaching the 1400m, improved onto heels and was eased.
FIRE AND LIGHT – Slow to begin. When the pace eased near the 1400m was steadied and then raced with its head up for a short distance. Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 400m.
SIR GOLDALOT – Began awkwardly and then crowded for room. Near the 1600m was bumped. Raced wide in the early stages.
MICHIFUKU – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin and then shifted out and bumped. Shifted out near the 1600m and bumped SIR GOLDALOT. Near the 350m was bumped. When asked to comment on the performance, rider M. Savva stated the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however dropped the bridle near the 800m and when placed under pressure a short distance later, failed to respond to her riding. She added that the gelding may be better suited to tracks with more give in them. Trainer K. Kemp advised that he will have his vet look over the gelding and conduct tests in the coming days and report to Stewards any findings.
PACKAGE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide from the 1100m.
TRUSTY BANDIT – Rider D. Turner reported that it was not his intention to lead, however when the gelding began well, he permitted his mount to stride and near the 1700m was able to obtain the lead. He further added that his mount raced keenly during the race and that when placed under pressure near the 600m, it began to weaken and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer W. Kropp was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for poor performance.
MAURITA – Slow to begin.
REVELAIDE - Crowded for room at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over raced approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion.
RACE 6: CLARIDGE RACING MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
FRED'S MEMORY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after an extended period from racing and was cleared to race. Raced keenly in the early stages.
KIDS INTHE KITCHEN – Shifted in abruptly when placed under pressure leaving the 150m. Stewards advised rider M. Savva to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
PRINCE OF SYNERGY – Heavily bumped on jumping becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Shortly after the start commenced to over race and when the pace eased near the 1000m, had to be restrained from heels. Over raced in the early stages.
SILENT FOX - Raced keenly when racing wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride and obtain the lead near the 650m.
ZOUSLAYER – Began awkwardly, bumped and lost ground. Shortly after the start commenced to race ungenerously and when being restrained, raced erratically with its head in the air, shifting in before becoming awkward on the heels of FRED’S MEMORY and being checked. Continued to race erratically in the early stages and when being restrained by the rider, hung out across the heels of BAMBINO DI VINO near the 850m and was checked, continued to hang out until the rider was able to correct the gelding near the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer J. Bruce was advised that ZOUSLAYER would be required to officially trial to Stewards satisfaction before being permitted to race again.
ELLES MY NAME – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 7: CREATE WITH COTTEE MAIDEN HANDICAP 2000 M
The start of the race was delayed approximately 3 minutes due to RED VEGAS requiring farrier attention behind the barriers after shifting the near hind plate.
ARGENT EMPYREAN – As no other apprentice rider was available, rider B. Stower was permitted as the replacement for apprentice J Busuttin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure leaving the 200m proving difficult to ride out to the line.
I'M SO ELEGANT (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn and then steadied when ARGENT EMPYREAN laid out. B. Stower the rider of ARGENT EMPYREAN was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident.
JAMCART (NZ) – Raced keen early.
PROUD MISS – Held up rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, rider N. Tomizawa reported that the mare travelled well, however when placed under pressure approaching the 400m, fail to respond to his riding and was disappointing. He added that the three weeks between runs may have had an influence on the performance.
BAD BOY BOONE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
PELLINOR – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn, in doing so inconvenience RED VEGAS.
RED VEGAS - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority, then taken wider rounding the home turn when PELLINOR laid out.
