Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 7: 15 YAKITORI – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg)
RACE 1:LEVEL ELECTRICAL TOOWOOMBA QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
The start of this race was delayed by approximately five (5) minutes owing to ROYAL DIAMOND undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination due to the presence of blood in the filly’s mouth and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:48pm.
The start of this race was further delayed when MISHANI FIDDICH became fractious, then cast in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:51pm.
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on ROYAL DIAMOND to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - PINKISH HUE – 16c win, 19c place.
2nd - CONCERNED – 22c place.
3rd - NIFTY'S TREASURE – 14c place.
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on MISHANI FIDDICH to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - PINKISH HUE – 10c win, 12c place.
2nd - CONCERNED – 14c place.
3rd - NIFTY'S TREASURE – 10c place.
Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised a warning would be placed on MISHANI FIDDICH for the filly’s pre-race manners when it was reluctant to proceed to the barriers and then would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards (barrier manners). A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a heart murmur. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised MISHANI FIDDICH would require veterinary clearance inclusive of a satisfactory echocardiogram prior to resuming.
A post-race veterinary examination of ROYAL DIAMOND revealed the filly to have a small laceration in the mouth.
CONCERNED – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure upon entering the home straight.
TAP OUT – Co-Trainer C. Geran was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
CRIMSON COMMANDER – Near the 900m, raced in restricted room before then laying in and away from DIOSA AFRODITA. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 150m when laying in, had to be eased when close to the heels of PINKISH HUE.
JASMINTINA – Raced wide for the majority.
DIOSA AFRODITA – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice K. Lenton stated the filly choked down attributing to the seemingly poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Co-Trainer T. Sweeney was advised a warning would be placed on DIOSA AFRODITA for its poor performance.
RACE 2:BLACK GWM - HOPE CUP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1000 M
SEAMS LOGICAL – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
WANTED HILLBILLY – Began awkwardly. Upon entering the home straight, had difficulty obtaining clear running before being disappointed for a run between ZARNI, which shifted out marginally, and CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ). Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Butler reported from the wide gate, he elected to restrain his mount in the early stages to settle toward the rear of the field with cover, which is further back than the geldings most recent racing pattern.
CHARMED PASSAGE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
DARTH INVADER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 600m, had to be steadied when close to the heels of BLUE EYE DAME.
ZARNI – Raced wide for the majority.
PUREZZA – Began awkwardly.
RACE 3:HARVEY BLACK GROUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300 M
DON PEDRO – Near the 75m, shifted out and bumped with LUTON HOO (NZ).
REJOICED – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. After the running of this race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
CONNECTICUT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and was obliged to alter course and shift in.
KATDEEL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
LUTON HOO (NZ) – Underwent a re-saddle upon arrival to the barriers. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 75m, bumped with DON PEDRO which shifted out under pressure. After the running of this race, it was noted the mare had lost its off fore plate.
TRAPEZE WARRIOR – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
WARILLA GORILLA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 100m, had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of REJOICED (C. Lowe), which when laying in, shifted in. Near the 50m, eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of REJOICED (C. Lowe) which continued to lay in. Apprentice C. Lowe was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
DREAM LANTERN – Bumped and hampered at the start by REJOICED which began awkwardly. Raced keenly whilst being restrained. Raced wide for the majority.
UNLEASH – Shifted in near the 900m.
EXPECTANT – Near the 900m when racing keenly, eased away from the heels of UNLEASH which shifted in.
RACE 4:HOPE HORIZONS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1890 M
Trainer K. Kemp approached Stewards prior to Correct Weight requesting the start of the race to be reviewed to ascertain if MICHIFUKU had been afforded a fair start. After reviewing the patrol footage available, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that MICHIFUKU had been afforded a fair start and as a result declared Correct Weight.
FIRE AND LIGHT – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the thumps.
MICHIFUKU – Began awkwardly and lost ground after being fractious in the barriers. Near the 1100m when the tempo of the race slackened, improved onto the heels of PELLINOR and had to be checked resulting in the gelding, shifting in abruptly towards the rail. Near the 500m, Apprentice S. Callow lost the use of her off side rein and as a result, her mount shifted out before she was able to regather her reins near the 400m. Near the 400m, laid out under pressure before being eased down by its rider. After reviewing the footage, Apprentice S. Callow agreed near the 1100m, she needed to be more mindful of the tempo of the race, which would have prevented her from checking her mount. Apprentice S. Callow reported that rounding the home turn after regathering her reins, her mount felt uncomfortable in its action and therefore she elected to ease the gelding down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have skin abrasions above the left eye and the presence of blood in the left nostril attributed to external trauma. Trainer K. Kemp was advised MICHIFUKU would be required to obtain veterinary clearance prior to resuming an perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jumpout prior to resuming.
RUGBY – Trainer N. Keal was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
HEAVENLY LOVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.
MOONFLEET – Jockey A. Butler reported the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages but at the entrance to the straight, when placed under full pressure only responded fairly and as a result was disappointing to the finish.
ATTACK FORCE (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
HABERFIELD – Began awkwardly. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
RACE 5:VALE SPIRIT OF BOOM MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 M
DIVINITY STAR – Near the 300m, shifted out to obtain clear running. Jockey N. Fazackerley reported that in his opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation.
MIGHTY WINSTON – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
AKIRA SAN – Over raced throughout. Approaching the 1000m whilst over racing, had to be eased away from the heels of JADDAF which shifted in. Eased down over the final 200m. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported his mount was inclined to hang out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-Trainer C. Geran was advised AKIRA SAN would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming (racing manners and laying out). Co-Trainer C. Geran advised Stewards it is his intention to send the mare for a spell.
RED CAPE – Shifted out at the start.
WAVES OF EMOCEAN (NZ) – Slow into stride.
ELLES MY NAME – Near the 300m, was hampered and carried wider by DIVINITY STAR which shifted out to obtain clear running. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MR DEMOCRAT – Began awkwardly.
RACE 6:FLORENCE & MARABEL COLLECTIONS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 870 M
BOX OFFICE – Slow to begin and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority.
KILONOVA – Bumped at the start by JOHNNY THE KID. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
PAST MIDNIGHT – Began awkwardly.
JOHNNY THE KID – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with KILONOVA. Lost contact with the bulk of the field during the middle stages despite the efforts of its rider.
FULLY SUBSCRIBED – Shortly after the start, was hampered and tightened for room between STREET DAZZLER and KILONOVA.
SKY BLUE Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice K. Lenton reported in her opinion, the mare may appreciate a step up in distance at its next race start.
STREET DAZZLER – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
EZEIZA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period and was subsequently cleared to start. Laid in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
RACE 7:LAWRENCE & HANSON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
Correct Weight was delayed to allow Trainer B. Healey and Jockey A. Butler to view the official photo finish. After doing so, connections along with Stewards were satisfied with the photo and Correct Weight was declared.
TWO MINDS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period and was subsequently cleared to start. Shifted in at the start. Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
FUNDORA – Taken in at the start by TWO MINDS and bumped LOVE THE GOVERNESS. Approaching the 300m, raced in restricted room to the inside of THROW IT BACK which had shifted in slightly when under pressure. Approaching the 200m when making ground, shifted in abruptly under riding.
THROW IT BACK – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 900m when racing keenly, was restrained away from the heels of FUNDORA.
LOVE THE GOVERNESS – Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by FUNDORA. Near the 600m, eased and became unbalanced when placed in restricted room. Jockey F. Larson reported his mount raced greenly throughout and recommended to connections the removal of the pacifiers.
BETTER GO TORQUE – Began awkwardly and then hampered shortly after the start.
RUN TO YOU – Began awkwardly then hampered shortly after. Near the 400m, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FUNDORA which shifted out slightly.
LITTLE MISS BOOM – Laid out rounding the home turn.
YAKITORI – Near the 50m whilst weakening, raced in restricted room between FUNDORA and THROW IT BACK, both of which had shifted ground.
