Supplementary Report

Pre-race blood samples were collected from 24 runners engaged to race tonight.

Race 1: XXXX Gold Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1650m

HUSSY ERIN – Dwelt at the start and lost ground.

HENNY BOY – Slow to begin.

NUITS ST GEORGES – Began awkwardly. Apprentice N. Nishio was reminded of his obligations in relation to raising his arm above shoulder height when using his whip.

DEEP HEAT – Bumped on the point of the home turn.

EASY LAGER – Bumped on the point of the home turn.

Race 2: Stephanie Duff Memorial Maiden Plate – 1650m

EMMADEE – Tightened for room at the start.

SIPPIN’ SAPPHIRE – Tightened for room at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages and raced wide until a point near the 800m where allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outsider the leader.

SIR ALBERT - Tightened for room at the start and as a result lost ground. Jockey S. Bogenhuber pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 500m she did direct her mount out when insufficiently clear of OUTBACK WRANGLER, making heavy contact with that runner resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and forced wider on the track and losing its momentum. Jockey Bogenhuber was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 28 March and to expire at midnight, 8 April.

NOW LISTEN – Was momentarily held up approaching the home turn.

OUTBACK WRANGLER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BULLDOG’S PRIDE – Rider L. Attard was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the conclusion of the event.

BRIGLIADORO – Jockey B. Appo, rider of the 4th placegetter, was fined $300 for failing to ride his mount right out to the finish of the race. When considering penalty stewards were satisfied that B. Appo’s actions did not cost his mount third placing.

Race 3: Neil Mansell Transport Maiden Plate – 1100m

COL’S LATE – Began awkwardly and had to be steadied from heels at the start.

BAY ENZO – Began awkwardly. Forced wider approaching the 800m by another runner and as a result raced wide for the remainder of the race. Laid in in the home straight.

JUST AS LOYAL – Laid in in the home straight.

SUPERB ASCOT – Raced wide throughout. Rider K. Yoshida reported to stewards his mount had a tendency to overrace and hang out for the majority of the event and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that a warning would be issued against the racing manners of the gelding.

NATIVE – Jockey Attard reported to stewards that his mount travelled well during the event, however when placed under pressure near the 600m, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Trainer N. Petersen could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of NATIVE today, however undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent if any abnormality becomes apparent which could have had an effect on today’s performance.

Race 4: Neil Mansell Concreted Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1000m

BAHSA – Slow to begin.

ELIAZAR – Blundered on jumping away. Forced wider on the track by another runner leaving the 800m. Forced to steady approaching the 500 to avoid the heels of FOUR IRON, which shifted in whilst hanging despite the efforts of its rider. Stewards questioned jockey S. Bogenhuber in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding. Jockey Bogenhuber advised that after beginning well she rode her mount along to obtain a forward position, however passing the 800m was forced wide on the track when WICKED BABE shifted out, and as a result she was forced 3 wide for the remainder of the event. Jockey Bogenhuber also added that passing the 500m, ELIAZAR resented being restrained when inconvenienced by another runner and from that point failed to travel for the remainder of the event and proved disappointing. Stewards will follow up with trainer M. Nolan at a later date in relation to today’s performance.

FOUR IRON - Forced wider on the track by another runner leaving the 800m. Laid in for the majority of the event.

Race 5: Shannon Sign Company QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1100m

SHIBA SAKUARA – Bumped heavily on jumping away. Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner shortly after the start.

FILLE ARDENTE – Bumped heavily on jumping away.

COMMANDING FORCE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.

FILLE ARDENTE – The saddle on the horse shifted slightly near the 700m, resulting in jockey Yamada losing the use of his nearside iron, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

PRINCE INTEGRITY – Shifted wider on the track near the 700m to avoid the heels of another runner.

SHIBA SAKURA - Shifted wider on the track near the 700m to avoid the heels of another runner.

NARDINE ROAD – Momentarily placed in restricted room inside FILLE ARDENTE, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Held up badly from approaching the 300m until near the 200m behind a tiring runner.

MASSIVE ATTACK – Stewards questioned trainer B. Currie in relation to the improved performance. He advised when racing first up from a spell last start the horse was interfered with at the start and settled further back in the field than he had anticipated and, in his opinion, was not suited when racing between runners. He added he felt the major contributing factor in the improved performance tonight was the fact that the horse began well and was able to lead in tonight’s race. He further added that the gelding had previously performed well at jumpouts on the inner track.

Race 6: Tyrell’s Wines Class 2 H'cap – 1100m

SIMPLY MEAN - Made contact on jumping away.

EXCITING DOLL - Made contact on jumping away.
