GENERAL

Apprentice L. Attard was reprimanded for failing to produce his winning rides book.

Race 1: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

BAY DUKE – Laid out in the early stages and was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested. A warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners.

BEAU D’ARGENT – Slow to muster speed.

ELSPETH’S STAR – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer T. Sears could offer no explanation other than that it was the horse’s second start for the stable and that it had worked well in the lead-up to today’s event.

HOW SWEET – Raced wide without cover throughout.


Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

Correct weight was delayed to enable R. Goltz, the rider of 4th placegetter BLUE STAR, to view the Stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter ICE COLD. After viewing the videos, jockey Goltz declined to proceed with an objection.

ICE COLD – Bumped leaving the 600m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

BLUE STAR – Made contact with another runner on jumping away. Had to steady from heels over the concluding stages.

DANNI’S DIVA – Bumped at the 600m.

FLINDERS PEAK – Raced wide without cover throughout. Bumped leaving the 600m. Apprentice F. Elliott was questioned regarding the disappointing performance. She stated that in her opinion the horse did not appreciate today’s rain-affected going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DANGEROUS DANICA – Made contact with another runner on jumping away. Bumped at the 600m.

FILLE ARDENTE – Slow to begin.

NANDINE ROAD – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer’s representative Mr B. Saunders could not offer any tangible explanation other than that he believed the horse was racing in easier company this start and was confident of an improved showing.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 7.

Race 3: TYRRELL’S WINES BM70 H'CAP – 1650M

CEBILE – Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Apprentice B. Stower reported that the filly raced ungenerously in the early stages and after taking a sit behind the leader did not respond to her riding in the later stages.

LIDO – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice R. Williams reported that after racing ungenerously in the early stages, she elected to shift wider and when placed under pressure the gelding did not respond to her riding. Apprentice Williams also reported that the gelding’s breathing seemed laboured in the later stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BM65 H'CAP – 925M

BOOT SHAKER – While hanging out near the 500m, raced ungenerously, shifted out and bumped another runner. Apprentice B. Stower reported at scale that her mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event.

BAGGER CHANCE – Apprentice E. Ljung reported at scale that her mount tired over the concluding stages and in her opinion appreciates races over a shorter distance.

RAMBLIN’ DAISY – Had to be checked and lost ground when tightened for room near the 800m. Apprentice T. Brooker (OPTIONALITY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 800m she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, forcing LADY SCHILLER in on to RAMBLIN’ DAISY. Apprentice Brooker’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 4 April and expire at midnight on Wednesday 15 April 2015.

LADY SCHILLER – Forced in onto another runner near the 800m. Bumped by another runner near the 500m.

Race 5: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT BM75 H'CAP – 1000M

LOTTO HILL – Knuckled on jumping away. Hung in in the early stages. Steadied from heels leaving the 800m.

FOUR IRON – Bumped approaching the 900m. Had to be steadied when tightened for room leaving the 600m. Jockey P. Hamilton (JOHNNYDRAMA) was advised to exercise more care when his mounts shift ground. When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, apprentice E. Ljung reported that in her opinion the gelding disliked racing between runners and did not handle today’s track conditions.

ELIAZAR – Bumped approaching the 900m.

JOHNNYDRAMA – Rider P. Hamilton was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Following the running of this event and after a number of showers, the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8.

Race 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1100M

Trainer P. Sexton was fined $100 for failing to declare E. Ljung as the rider of WINNER WIMMER.

EXCITING DOLL – Had to be checked approaching the 200m when taken in on to the heels of another runner by LUCKY DUCKY. Apprentice T. Brooker was issued with a severe reprimand for this incident. Steadied from heels near the 50m.

HANDFUL OF SILVER – Slow to begin.

CRABBING – Slow to begin.

DOLL IN HI HEELS – Late scratching at 1.48 p.m. on veterinary advice.

LUCKY DUCKY – Raced wide throughout.

Following the running of this event and after further rain had fallen, the track was downgraded to HEAVY 9.

Race 7: DAWN OSBORNE FLORIST CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M

DAZET – Rider C. Maund was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In issuing a reprimand, Stewards took into account jockey Maund’s previous good record in relation to the whip rules.

KURKOVA – Shifted in and bumped another runner near the 900m. Apprentice T. Brooker was advised to exercise more care. Apprentice T. Brooker reported at scale that she dropped her whip at the 50m.

MOOLAH MISS – Bumped near the 900m.

INTERLUDE – Slow to begin.
