Race 1: STEPHANIE DUFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1577 METRES)
 
INVADER’S GIRL – Raced wide from the 900m.
 
OPTIMUS MAXIMUS – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SUMMER STAR – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
GREAT ANGLES – Began awkwardly.
 
ALALTUN (NZ) – Apprentice S. Bailey advised that her mount travelled comfortably in the early stages however began to come under pressure near the 800m and failed to respond to her riding. She further added that the mare failed to handle todays track surface.
 
WHISTLIN’ RULER – Shifted out on jumping and bumped SUMMER STAR. Over-raced in the early stages. Hung-out for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider K. Gates reported that the gelding over-raced and had a tendency to hang-out throughout.
 
 
Race 2: LEWIS DUFF MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap (1100 METRES)
 
HOLIDAY DREAMS – Clipped heels and checked near the 550m. Stewards commenced an inquiry into an incident near the 550m involving CITY CHICK (Apprentice P. Carter) and ZENA BOY (Apprentice C. Krahnen), however due to an incident prior to Race 3 in which apprentice P. Carter was transported to Kingaroy Hospital, the remainder of the inquiry was adjourned to a later date.
 
DIGGITY – Slow to begin.
 
HURRICANE HALL – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
ALL ABOUT LEWIS – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Rider K. Gates reported the gelding struggled with the pace of the race.


Race 3: KEVIN DUFF MEMORIAL Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
 
The start of this race was delayed by approximately 35 minutes when TWOPENCE dislodged its rider (Apprentice P. Carter) en route to the barriers and galloped at pace towards the 1500m chute, where the mare attempted to jump the exterior rail leading out to the bushland. After a veterinary examination, the mare was found to have suffered a serious injury and was humanely euthanized. Apprentice P. Carter was assessed on track by QAS staff and transported to Kingaroy Hospital for further assessment.  
 
TWOPENCE was declared a late scratching at 2:45pm. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on TWOPENCE to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:

1st - SMACKEROONY – 8c win,9c place.
2nd - WOOLMAR – 9c place.
3rd - WHATABOOM – 9c place.
 
 
NEWELL BEACH – Raced wide throughout. Took a false step and blundered momentarily near the 600m. Rider K. Gates reported that the gelding did not handle the prevailing track conditions and recommended to trainer J. Burn that the mare would be better suited to grass tracks in future. Trainer J. Burn concurred with the rider’s assessment and would look to avoid sand tracks in future.
 
WOOLMAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out near the 150m to obtain clear running.
 
WHATABOOM – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Hung-out for the majority of the event and rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice rider C. Krahnen reported the gelding raced greenly and had a tendency to hang-out throughout.
 
SACRED SHIKOBA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.   
 
 
Race 4: NEAL DUFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1000 METRES)
 
Due to the delay prior to race 3, the starting times for races 4 and 5 were amended. The start of this race was rescheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
 
AMPHAWA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Stewards permitted trainer M. Bailey to replace apprentice rider P. Carter with senior rider C. Taylor when no suitable apprentice riders were available following apprentice P. Carters injury. Raced 3-wide throughout. Forced wider rounding the turn from the 500m when SUNSHINYDAY hung out.  
 
SUNSHINYDAY – Hung-out rounding the turn from the 500m.
 
JUDY JETSON – Rider K. Gates reported her mount resented the kickback.
 
ARTIE’S DYNAMITE – Stewards permitted trainer G. Schrader to replace senior rider M. Kennedy with apprentice rider C. Krahnen when no suitable senior riders were available. Raced 3-wide throughout.
 
DAINTREE DREAMING – Slow to begin.
 
 
During the running of this race, a number of Kangaroos crossed the track near the 400m as the field was approaching, however had no impact on the running of the race. Stewards took precautionary measures following the race to ensure the animals had vacated the premises.  
 
 
Race 5: JP DUFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (850 METRES)

The start of the race was rescheduled to begin at 4:30pm.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of second placegetter THE RATTLESNAKE to view the patrol footage of the home straight. After viewing the footage, connections decided not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
THE RATTLESNAKE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ABOVE THE WORLD – Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied near the 750m when improving onto heels.   
 
DON’T CHA WISH – Slow to begin.
 
IGBO – Forced wider rounding the home turn when LUMINOUS WATERS hung out.
 
BOITUMELO – Stewards permitted trainer G. Parker to replace apprentice rider P. Carter with senior rider M. Butler when no suitable apprentice riders were available following apprentice P. Carters injury.
 
LUMINOUS WATERS – Hung-out for the majority of the event and when rounding the home turn. Continued to lay out when under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice rider C. Krahnen reported that she had difficulty steering her mount which hung out for the majority of the event. Trainer G. Schrader was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for hanging out. Apprentice C. Krahnen was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mount when shifting ground in the home straight.
